I was looking for some advise from fellow mori lee 1862 brides. I went to try my dress on yesterday, I’ve lost around 14lbs since first ordering, and the size I ordered was a little small for me at the time, however with my weight loss it now fits.
It is however, big around the bust, the seamstress said she can add cups and take the bust I a little but that even that will be difficult. She said this dress canot be taken In around my waist/hips at all, it’s just not possible due to the lace. I’d wanted to tone up, but she said if I lose anymore inches I can’t wear it as it will be too big. At the moment it isnt as figure hugging on my body as I wanted, and a little loose as it is.
i have photos if that helps.
I’m a little confused as when I ordered the shop told me it could easily be taken in, so I always planned on having it as form fitting as possible -where as now I’m being told it can’t be changed. Have any of you had your 1862 taken in and was it a problem?
thanks so much

Congrats on choosing a beautiful dress! I ordered my dress to fit my hips so the top ended up being extremely big. My seamstress took the dress in at the zipper instead of on the sides and she also put in cups at my bust. It is definietly possible to take the dress in but the lace makes it a little more tricky. Something my seamstress also did was add a very wide piece of elastic with three eye hooks to the back inside. This stopped me from having to adjust it or pull it up for the entire day.

I also have the mori lee 1862 and when I ordered it it fitted fine however I have lost quite a bit of weight too. I went for my last fitting yesterday after they took it in at the waist and hips and it fit perfectly. My seamstress took the lace off the dress, took it in and then put the lace back on. let us know how you get on 🙂 xxx

sship90: Im in the same situation. Although I havent had it altered yet. I did freak out when i tried the 12 on. (floor sample was at 10 and it was perfect). The 12 only fit my hips but they have reassured me they can fix it *fingers crossed*
