Hmmm...at least you don't have to find a seamstress to make it now? Ask and you shall receive? This is really strange.
Wow. Ask and you shall receive indeed. That's really neat. Are you still planning on having yours made or are you going to plan to purchase the "Mori Lee Mitla"? I'd have to at least try it on just to see if it looked the same on as it was imagined.
hot damn! did she copy you?!?!?! I'd call up the studio and/or try and get in touch to ask if your dress was the inspiration...who knows you might get some money off your dress! I think yours looks EXACTLY like hers down to the way the dress is photographed with the folds on the bottom. Someone who works for her must have somehow seen it on your blog, they must have! Very beautiful by the way and I'm jealous at your talent!
I know, right? It was funny at first, but it also feels a little weird. The dresses are way too similar.
I have no idea what I will do. I am pretty attached to it as it took a while for me to come up with that design, and I worked so hard on the sketch (esp. since I'm not an artist, by any means!). I've already purchased my fabric & beading and was going to slightly modify the design to make the dress a little more formal. Maybe I will go try it on, though.
Ask and I shall receive? Hmm... maybe I have magic sketches! What shall I draw next? World peace? A tropical vacation? Hey, how do you draw paid off credit cards? ;)
Holy crap..that's crazy! You should contact them and make them hire you as a designer :P
That's nuts! At least you know you're a good designer! Don't you wonder how this all happened?
okay i need you to draw a million dollars from me or better yet a sallie mae account statement with a zero balance, mmm-kay?!
seriously that is about the most strange thing i have ever seen in my life and i would call the company and direct them to the post.
That's really awesome that you read their mind! Honestly, I don't think they copied you... I've seen dresses like it before and while it's super beautiful, it's a pretty popular basic design.
I have to agree with KMSull... while the designs are pretty much identical, I've seen similar styles as well. And particularly since the dress made it's debut in October, and you posted in August... I would think they would have the designs for their new line of dresses ready to go and set in stone prior to August if they were being released in October. I mean... that would give them a, what, 1.5 month turnaround time to copy the design, put it into production in China or wherever their dresses were made, brought back into the studio, profesionally photographed..:)
However, I think you should give yourself a pat on the back for coming up with your design... even if Mori Lee did design something similar. It shows that you have some awesome talent in that arena!

Here's a weird thing that happened (cue "Twilight Zone" theme...)
I was flipping through the Jan. 2010 issue of Bride's magazine, and saw a Mori Lee dress that looked familiar. It turns out I designed it myself... last summer!
I never told anyone (except my mom, best friend, etc.), but posted the sketches on my blog in August. Mori Lee's dress came out in October, I think.
Today I wrote a post comparing Mori Lee's dress to my original sketches... The similarities are uncanny especially when you look at the dresses right next to each other.
I know there are many similar wedding dresses out there, but how weird is that! I am speechless.
