I am not sure about morning sickness because I didn't have morning sickness with any of my babies, and I had 1 girl and two boys. There is another wives tale that says if you have a lot of heartburn, the baby will have a full head of hair when it is born; that proved true for me. I had a ton of heartburn with my daughter and she was born needing a haircut. I didn't have heartburn with my boys, and they didn't have a lot of hair when they were born. I have also been told that if you carry to the inside, the baby will be a girl, and if you carry to the outside, the baby will be a boy; this also proved true in my case.
I have AWFUL morning sickness and a high HR. All pointing to a girl I guess...
I have heard that but I have heard that is an old wives tale
I sure hope so because I have has NO morning sickness and I want a girl :-)
I really do think it is just one of the MILLIONS of things that people say that are not really true. Like boys and girls are not carried differently (high vs. low) The Chinese Gender Chart is just as inaccurate as it has been accurate. So there will always be some people who can say "yep...that was totally true for me" and there will be others who can say "nope, that theory was wrong with my baby".
I had horrible morning sickness (lost 15 lb) and I have a girl! My bff never got sick once and she has 2 boys. Also have another friend who wasn't sick at all and has 2 boys. So maybe.....but probably a wives tale.
I've had fairly bad morning sickness and I'm having a girl :) Probably an old wives....but it was true for me!
I've never heard of that one. I had mild morning sickness and I'm having a girl.
I was so sick and had a boy. I only gained 13 lbs the entire pregnancy, but he was 7lbs 10 oz. I had to take diclectin to actually gain weight. Same with my sister and she had a boy.
My mom had 2 boys and 2 girls...no morning sickness with any of us. It's totally false - either you'll have morning sickness or you won't regardless of the sex of the baby.
You could even have no morning sickness with one pregnancy and then have it with your next.
I dont think thats true. My SIL has 2 boys (1 yrs and 3 yrs old) and she was VERY sick during both pregnancies.
I've been pregnant with both and have not been plagued by bad morning sickness thankfully. Both pregnancies were very similar although i was massive with my boy and smaller compact with my girl.
I had zero morning sickness...not even a day...and Im having a girl.
Also, I am carrying very low and to the side...still a girl. Im all belly (haven't gained anywhere else) and haven't lost my looks lol. I tried the Chinese gender calendar thing, but turns out there are multiple versions of them so that totally depends on which one you happen to look at. So The only old wives tale that was actually true in my case was the needle/wedding ring on a string trick.
This seems to be one of the least accurate tales.
I have three friends that were all pregnant around the same time. Two had really bad morning sickness (one with a boy, one with a girl) and the third friend with no sickness and ended up with a boy.
Thanks for all of the responses! It really looks like that old wives tales is simply that, but it is fun wondering if you are having a boy or a girl based on symptoms, heart rate etc.
I'm having a boy and I had horrible morning a.k.a. all day every day morning sickness. Shoot, I took pills to help, but they ddin't work that well. So, I think it's one of those old wives tales.
I had no morning sickness and delivered a beautiful, healthy girl.
I had the worst morning sickness (I still have some at 18 months) and I'm having a boy.
I had morning/ noon and night sickness when I was pregnant from month 2 until month 6 and I had a big ol 10 lb boy!
@octobermom: mmm so not true. I had morning sickness 4 times a day, until I was 8 months pregnant and I had a big boy also. It was torture!
I puked for the first 12 weeks, was constantly nauseated (to the point I was on Zofran for it) and we're having a boy. My mom was convinced he was a girl to begin with because of the HR on ultrasound and all the sickness... She was wrong...boy was she wrong. lol
we still have awhile before we find out but we did the 'inteligender' test - lots of friends say it has worked for them..and it said we'll have a boy, but we're taking it with a grain of salt - can never completely trust those things. our heartrate was 171 at the first sonogram appointment so everyone is saying its a girl, but we've researched and there are no proven facts that heartrate relates to gender so that's all just a myth as well....
I didn't have morning sickness and the ultrasound says girl, though I did get naseous towards the end of my 1st trimester.
I was just thinking about this and it proves true in my family. My friend and 3 cousins had extremely bad morning sickness and all had boys where everyone had nothing and they had girls :)

So my sister in law swears by: if you have very little or no morning sickness its a boy and frequent morning sickness its a girl. From what i have read it can go either way but i wanted to hear what you all think.
