You know, it's all super different to the point i thought "oh maybe that clashes!" but I REALLY like it! A LOT! I've never heard of a "morning suit" before but I do love the look.
The model's not too shabby either =]
My FH is going to be wearing something similar for our ceremony, which will be outdoors mid afternoon. The reception will be in the evening but not terribly formal. I say go for it! So charming and cute!
We are having our ceremony early afternoon; probably 1:30. Here is the morning suit our guys will be wearing.
Love, love LOVE them. I think they're more common in the UK than here in the US but I love the look of them.
I love love love the look of morning dress (a morning suit is a bit different, actually). If I could convince my FI to buy one, he would totally be wearing that. As it is, I'm thinking about semi-formal day wear for him - just like the outfit you pictured but with a dark gray suit coat instead of the cutaway. He would only have to buy the shirt, tie, and suspenders (happening anyway), a vintage pair of pants I'm hoping to find cheap-ish, and either buy or have made a dove gray or buff vest. It's either that or a whole new three-piece suit in gray or navy. And I may sweeten the deal by showing him hat pictures, FI loves hats, and he could wear a homburg with either outfit. Groomsmen will just be wearing suits.
As for your timing issue, I guess you can't move your reception time. Cause the awesome morning look isn't really appropriate for evening, which is anything after 5, just like a tux isn't appropriate before 5. So it's hard on the budget, but if it were me I'd ask my FI to change clothes between the ceremony and the reception. Oh, and you didn't ask but I would definitely go for the regular tie vs the ascot w/wing collar.
FH wants to wear coat tails. I said knock your self out!
I love that suit picture! The first one, I think it looks great! And you could get away with it for an evening reception, maybe you could buy it in pieces instead of as one suit, just buy the components ya know?
good luck!
Very nice! Looks so formal! I doubt I can get FI to wear one though! Plus we are having an evening wedding anyway

I totally love the look of the traditional morning suit. I think it's snappy and different. The I started the question the propriety of it given the time of our wedding ceremony (2pm) and our reception (5pm). The ceremony time is afternoon, which is fine for this suit, but the reception is in the evening and a bit more formal.
After shopping around, we found that hardly anyone was familiar with the morning suit. I'm wondering if any other bees have their men wearing one, and what's your venue and time?
