First, I'm a guy. I am not even currently in a long term relationship. I know women pick out their dream dresses.
That said, I have run across this amazing dress that makes all others pale in comparison. It is like a "Mirror mirror on the wall, what's the best dress of them all" kind of dress...lol.
Freel free to look but I warn you:
-all the other dresses will look too ordinary, too risky, too imperfect from then on
http://priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=1&sfid=51197&f1=V-Neck
It is classic yet modern...fancy yet clean and not hideous...unique without hurting the eye...it is very princess-like without appearing ancient...it is amazing...the best.
That said, opinions vary (and your friends will always lie that your dress is beautiful even if it isn't) ...lol. (I've had to lie so if I don't say "really" before the "beautiful", it is a lie...lol). I would like to see others that you think beats this dress. So here we go ladies...post competitors to "the dress" (and let me know what you think about this one).
I'm posting for 2 reasons:
1. I want to know if it is just me that thinks it is the best.
2. I'd like to see worthy competitors.
Cool. There is a polling...so if we get about 4 competitors and it is not too late to create a poll, I will. lol
It's absolutely gorgeous!!!! Love the crystal beading on the bodice and the satin is beautiful!
I agree with pumpkinpatch. It's pretty, but not my style either. Actually, the only thing I do like about the dress is the top. I dont like that type of silhoutte on dresses, just my opinion.
It's a pretty dress. But totally not my style.
First off, with a deep V neck like that, the girls would look vulgar and no where NEAR wedding day appropriate.
Secondly, I'm not a fan of all those sparkles on the top.
Finally, for a girl with larger hips, the cinched in natural waist would just accentuate the hips and make them look even LARGER.
It's a beautiful dress, but DEFINITELY not for me.
meh. i dont like it. i dont like how plain everything but the top looks. i like the back, but i prefer strapless! sorry!
@flyinpig3: I agree. With as sparkly as the top is, it makes the rest seem too plain. I might like it better if it had some more sparkle on the skirt.
what is the style called. stupid work likes to block websites and for some reason priscilla of boston is blocked and i want to see it! boooo on work
I love love love it...It wouldnt fit on my chest thouhg (or atleast look appropriate) and the top kind of reminds me of the GUESS glittered bras that GUESS has....:P
@Lovespearls: I know. It's pricey but that's one you can put in a shadowbox and make an heirloom and they style will stand the passage of time!
@KatNYC2011: Thanks!
i think its pretty...i dont care for the back but i actually really like the sillouette of the dress but i would personally like it better if it were strapless.
It is pretty, but somewhat lacks the sophistication I prefer in a wedding dress. It looks like a young dress to me (I'm 31), so if I was 18 I might adore it. Otherwise, I really prefer something that makes a bit more of my assets.
To pumpkinpatch and tator tot: I understand. Please submit better competitors. That's part of the fun.
pumpkinpatch...at least you had a "really" in there (instead of a regular pretty) so you do like it. lol
It was fun to hear the differing opinions.
Its a beautiful dress but I don't think its the mot beautiful dress I have seen.
@socrates I really dont think this dress will pass the test of time... i dont know any dress that could. The high waist and gull skirt from there will date it...its totally what is in style right now :)
This one is GROGEOUS http://www.priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=1&sfid=51211&f1=Sweetheart
ya i think this is totally a matter of opinion and taste. its a nice dress. but not one i would even take off the rack to try on. and it certainly does not beat MY dress! (maggie sottero Jenna). i am biased i know, but clearly so are you ;)
Cool and thoughtful response Kat,
1. About the neck line...you can choose how high or low you want it (included). I thought about that. Runways always choose small to medium chested women then larger chested women look more sexual. I must say, for a larger chested woman, maybe the second best would do...check it out.
http://priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=1&sfid=51213 OR
http://priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=1&sfid=51205
The two are too similar to separate...lol
2. I understand the hips comment but I'm not sure I agree unless you mean short waisted. If they are wide but do not start high, they will be covered (I believe) because that band is so high (it starts right under the bust and doesn't go too low). If the woman is short waited (hips start as soon as breasts end), then I agree with you.
Thanks for your comments...oh and how can you not like the crystals? lol It makes it so a necklace isn't necessary.
@Socrates: I never said I didn't like it, just said it wasn't what I would be looking for in a wedding dress. I could see wearing this style of dress, if it were black, to an elegant party or something, but it doesn't feel like the style I like for my wedding.
It's really beautiful!! Not my particular style though.
I'm going to post the pic so everyone can see.
Then after it, I'll post pics of my favorite POB dresses.
Maeve, Cricket, Trish, and Ricki.
Maeve http://priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=1&sfid=50695
Cricket http://priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=1&sfid=50812
Trish (I really think the back is adorable) http://priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=1&sfid=50944
@Socrates I think this dress may be a good contender http://www.priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=1&sfid=51211&f1=Sweetheart
That's part of the fun. Please post a better one (in your opinion). Maybe I just haven't layed my eyes on it.
Every dress I see now, I compare to this one in my mind and they dont cut it. lol
@Theresa90405: i love the second one...i drooled over it for a while when i first started dress shopping
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress. If I could have found a store within 5 hours driving distance that actually carried it, it would probably be my wedding dress.

I know it doesn't have the 'glam' of the dress you posted on the catwalk, but this kind of dress is more my style. I love it :)
I tink the high waist is what should help it for most woman. If you have a light belly or a little extra junk in the trunk, because of the high waist (sort of slimming) all that other stuff will get lost in the skirt part. If it were a lower waist, then you could see a belly and you could see exactly where someones behind starts, its. lol
@Socrates: I can see why people would like it, but personally it's not my thing
This is my personal favorite! I just love the eleganceof this dress, so dreamy :)

@Baileyh: that dress is gorgeous! Is it the one you wore?
@Socrates: It's a stunning dress but I agree with the other Bees that it doesn't work on many body types. However, on the runway model, it looks amazing--with her hair and makeup, the whole look reminds me of Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, when she gets all dressed up for the ball. Tall, slender, and not too busty definitely is the body type for this dress. On any of us Bees with boobs it could look a little too boobaliscious.
This has to be one of my favorite dresses, and the sillouette is similar to the one you posted its Mori Lee and probably half the price of the priscilla of boston

its so hard to choose, there are so many beautiful dresses out there
The fit is very similar to my dress. If I had the money... I would buy it in a heart beat. I love it. As it stands, I bought a very plain dress with that shape and then bought a lot of shiny accessories to work with both my personality (very sparkly and LOUD) and my fiance's (very, very, very, very, very plain).
@TaterTot26: Love that! It has that 'sweet' factor that I love.
The reason I didn't post the pick is because:
1. It is fun to go there and see the runway walk (also see it in Ivory if that's your thing), zoom in etc.
2. Also I was teasing with the look at your own risk of not liking another dress again.
Wile I didn't like most of the dresses, I absolutely loved the last one(from wat I can see...I have to figure out which one it is so I can go see it and zoom in)...sort of looks like a reception dress...short. I think it would be too short for the main ceremony dress but that's JMO.
Thanks for posting that.
1 "The Dress"
2. The bow on the side is a little riske...it would be polarizing...love it or hate it but of course your friends would never tell you.
3. Sort of plain. It could work with the right jewelry though.
4. Hurts my eyes...misplaced lace...lol
5. Stunning as a reception dress...we finally agree...lol
@totheislnds: I love this Mori Lee. When I first saw it online I couldnt believe how much affordable it was! It's such a pretty dress.
@Socrates: "Wile I didn't like most of the dresses, I absolutely loved the last one(from wat I can see...I have to figure out which one it is so I can go see it and zoom in)...sort of looks like a reception dress...short. I think it would be too short for the main ceremony dress but that's JMO."
No prob! Everyone has different taste. (You'd probably HATE the dress I wore to my wedding in April. LOL.)
Anyway, that last dress is Ricki. So beautiful. It's not on the site anymore. Which sucks because the way that one flowed in the video was TO DIE FOR.
Fun thread, by the way!
I looked at the runway photo...really nice. People should click the link to get the full feel of the dress. The lighting for the runway gives it a softer look (which I like) and doesn't make the waistband stick out so shiney...but I guess dresses must look good in pictures too...that's the point right...lol
