Do you have a costume rental place in Dallas that rents to corporate events?
I would look there or contact the wardrobe department of your local theater companies to see if they can help.
This seller on Etsy has leather filigree masks (and some freaky ones, lol), what if you added your own crystals?
@julies1949: Good idea! Thanks!
@bakerella: Ooooh. I'm sending him the link right now. I wonder if the artist would be willing to custom make us something...
Hello! I didn't find one *exactly* like the one you are looking for(it's gorgeous btw) but I had a masquerade party this weekend, and two of my friends had INCREDIBLE masks. They looked super expensive, but they gave us the name of the Venetian mask website from where they'd ordered them, and they were a lot less than I expected!
They also got a lot of their costume items from Dallas Vintage. Add me on FB and you can see everyone's outfits from the party. :-)
Masks shaped like what you are looking for seem to have the "bauta" name attached on that site. You might google "bauta" Venetian mask and see what comes up?
Also, don't they have tons o masks at the renaissance fair? I know those are way more expensive then this website, but it might be worth a shot!
@Miss Damask: Oooh, will do. I'm excited about the pictures!
That website looks fantastic! I know what I'm doing over my lunch break now. Dallas Vintage is a good idea, too.
Bauta is definitely that shape of mask. Fun trivia fact: Back in the day, every single citizen of Venice was required to own a mask of that shape, and they had to wear them for elections and stuff. The mask functioned as an anonymous polling booth. The reason the mouth and jaw jut forward like that is so the mask didn't interfere with breathing, eating, or talking.
I really love bauta masks for men, but FI doesn't like them so much. One of the reasons I love the one I posted here is because it's the first bauta mask that he's truly loved. I'm hoping we can find another that he likes because I think they're really flattering on him.
They definitely have a selection of masks at the faire, and we plan on searching the shop for ones we like. We're looking all over the place, though.
If you are in Dallas- take a weekend and go to the Big Easy- I bet you could find everything you needed- and most of it on sale after Mardi Gras

Retread that's a good idea! We're going to NOLA for Easter! Greeneyed--place an order! lol :-)
@retreadbride: I wish! I just don't think we can afford a weekend there right now, though. We might find a cheap mask, but the cost of the trip would make up the difference... :-\

My fiance and I are having a masquerade wedding, and we've been looking at masks for ourselves. We just found this men's mask (see picture below), and FI thinks it's the most awesome mask ever made. The problem, of course, is that it's about $450, and we absolutely CANNOT spend that much money on a mask. I'm coming to you, bees, for help... With your superior internet skillz, can you help me find this mask for a real bargain?
There are so many things I am excited to wear in the wedding - I have a gorgeous dress, and I love what jewelry I've already chosen. I know I'm going to look good while wearing some of the most gorgeous stuff I'll ever wear. I want my FI to feel the same way, and if that means I have to give up some other things, even an expensive mask of my own, I'll do it. I just don't know how we could possibly pay for this mask unless we could find it for 50% off or less.
