…Well, probably anyway. Only 7 months late! I only recently realized that I posted some photos in the gallery but never a recap thread. I was struggling to visualize a fall wedding when planning last spring, so hopefully this will be timely for some of you ladies planning a 2013 fall wedding and trying to think autumn.
Our ceremony was at the Sieberling estate known as Stan Hywet (“Stone Quarry”). It is Tudor Revival with a lot of castle-like qualities. Our reception was at a Sheraton overlooking the Cuyahoga River, and that’s also where we got ready.
Strap in, because this is going to be long!
I told my groom to pick where he wanted groomsman photos, so of course he chose the hotel bar! He was going for a James Bond sort of feel.
The tux shop had accidentally given Darling Husband a regular tie instead of a bow tie, so my Mother-In-Law had to run to the shop and grab a bow tie while these photos were being taken. Our sewing kit in our emergency kit also came in handy, because we lost at least one button.
Our aisle exited straight to this alley of birch trees, and we were still like, “We just got MARRIED!”
Another bride and groom actually showed up with their family and wedding party while we were taking photos at this overlook. They hadn’t even gotten married at our venue but wanted to take photos there. I was like…uhhh, no.
Our first dance was “Dream a Little Dream of Me” by the Mamas and the Papas.
So glad the photographer captured a photo of our room door because we were so excited to be in the “James Bond” room when we checked in. Two-story bridal suite for the win!
Last song. “Piano Man” by Billy Joel. Definitely merited a circle sway for those still awake at midnight. From here we had an impromptu after party, but there are no photos of that!

You look beautiful and the colors (the ones you picked and the surrounding scenery) are gorgeous.

@anemonie: Oh wow, the trees are perfect in these photos. Actually, everything is gorgeous. I love all of the pictures you took around your venue … Stunning! And you are so pretty … When I scrolled down to see the first couple of pictures of you, I was like, “Wow!”
Thanks for sharing!

Wow, your venue was gorgeous! Can’t blame you for not wanting to share it with the other wedding party! I love love love all the fall leaves. I really wanted a fall wedding, but alas, the timing did not work out. (Belated) congrats!

@mstellah: @angelinthesnowxo: Thank you so much!
@tallierand: Haha, I do think they got their photos afterall, they just had to wait for us to finish in that area. I really thought I wanted a spring wedding to start but the fall timing worked out, and I’m so glad it did. I’m sure your May wedding will be beautiful, with all the sunshine, flowers, and greenery us fall brides don’t get!

@gelaine22: Darling Husband is about 6’6″. I’m 5’2″ and was wearing 4″ heels, so I guess it’s a little of both! It’s weird to think that there’s about a foot and a half height difference between us, but we’re pretty used to it. Sometimes I joke that I married him because I need someone who can reach the high shelves in the kitchen.

Fellow Northeast Ohioan here — I LOVE Stan Hywet! So glad you posted these pictures. I was trying to find some from this venue not long ago.
Love your colors and that you did red nails! You looked beautiful. Great pics!

I adore the picture of you and the hubby walking through the birches. It is just, so incredibly heartfelt and beautiful.
