My DH and I have now been married for 6 months (yay!) and have only lived together for these 6 months. Of course there are plenty of things we have learned about each other, and really overall everything is great! BUT…. like all boys he has his disgusting habits (farting, stinking up bathroom, etc). Really I am a lucky girl, because he does the dishes, helps me clean, does or helps do the laundry, makes the bed if I don’t, etc. He is a very clean person. Except when it comes to germs!!! My DH for some reason thinks that water alone cleans things. When he “washes” his hands (only water), when he washes those dishes I spoke of (only water maybe one drop of soap in the sink). The man has no idea that germs can not be killed by luke warm water alone. He even washes his face with only water. I just do not understand the man. To be such a clean freak, but not care about germs is beyond me. lol.
So what disgusting things have you learned about your DH/SO upon living together?

My fiance and I have been living together for almost a year and a half. Overall he’s really great, BUT he totally pees ON the toilet and he leaves dirty dishes in random places for me to find days after he’s used them. Drives me crazy but I love him!

I honestly can’t think of anything. LOL! We’ve lived together now for something like 6 or 7 years. Whatever disgusting habits he used to have, we’ve already remedied.

katy13: DH doesn’t have disgusting habits (surprisingly!) but some annoying ones that have pretty much gone away. We’ve been married 7 months, but have lived together for 4 years so anything that was annoying on both of our parts has been hashed out and compromised on. For example, DH used to leave soda bottles by the side of our bed. I told him it was annoying and dirty, so he throws them away. I used to clean after DH cleaned because it wasn’t my way and it hurt his feelings, so I clean the way I want and he does other things to make up for that (litterbox, dishes, trash, etc.). After living together for awhile, nothing really grosses me out.

My SO and I have been living together for almost 2 years and he is a slob. I am not an especially neat person but I do still expect some type of order in my home. I hate doing big cleans. I much prefer to maintain cleanliness. He doesnt understand that. He thinks we should just let our apartment turn into a landfill, do a BIG clean of everything and then repeat the cycle. We have figured out a system that works, but his natural inclination for mess took some getting used to.

I’ve been living with DH for like… 9years, I’ve become pretty desensitized to his icky habits to the point that I dont notice them or they dont bother me.
The one thing I tease him about though, is the fact that he gets up to pee at night and “dribbles” on the mat around the toilet lol

FI is super tidy/clean! I don’t really have any complaints there. I guess he leaves the toilet seat up and the only reason I hate that is because I hate seeing the inside of the toilet bowl.
But he has no idea what he’s doing! He spilled a glass of water on our wood floor. Normal people soak up spills with a towel or something …. not FI. He got out the Swiffer Wet Jet then – I shit you not – squirted the puddle and pushed it around the floor until it dried ….

katy13: I am the disgusting one. SO helped me clean my old place before moving.
There was stuff even i didn’t know was there/needed to be cleaned.
I was grossed out at myself. How he helped me clean and STILL moved in with me is a mystery!

katy13: You are partly right. Regular household soap or cleanser does not kill germs — rather, it suspends (or lifts) them off the skin surface, allowing the microscopic critters to be rinsed down the drain. Soap doesn’t kill germs but it does help to get rid of them.
Antimicrobial or antibacterial soaps actually do kill germs, but those are being phased out as it is thought that they contribute to resistance.

He never reheats leftovers. He just eats them cold directly out of the refrigerator.
If he only has to pee, he just pees in the shower instead of peeing in the toilet. It’s so weird.
I probably have more gross habits than he does, so I shouldn’t complain!

We’ve lived together for almost 5 years now, but in the beginning he was shocked at often I was washing the sheets (like twice a month or so). He said he used to wash that many times in a year ..ew haha!

I actually probably have more gross habits than he does, but he leaves his hair shavings in the sink all the time! I knew this before we moved in together though, and we have separate bathrooms 🙂

Christy42213: Well what disgusting habits did he use to have? lol
KatiePi: This happens to us too. I just give him the easier tasks that way I dont have to redo everything. lol
urchin: OMG! using the word dribble makes it sound so disgusting lol! haha
208bride: hahahahaha!! This sounds like something my husband would do. lol
leisha606: This is really funny. I have never been a very organzied person until living with my husband. So he would actually say he is a cleaner person than me. lo
Cory_loves_this_girl: Oh gag! How does he not get sick from them being cold!?
stephanie091512: I do the same thing. I guess if I was not the person who always changed the sheets for him in collegeand now and his mother before me, I bet they would never be washed. lol
playdohpants: I nipped that one in the bud on the honeymoon. lol. But the only one I can’t seem to remedy is the hair in the shower. My husband is hairy (haha) yeah I said it. lol. And his hair gets every where! Cleaning the shower takes twice as long cause I never can seem to get every little hair out of there!

katy13: My FI is the most OCD person I’ve ever met. More than me! It works because we always keep the house clean, and you should see our closet!!!! But there is one thing that this man cannot pick up to save his life!!!!! He always leaves his dirty boxers on the tub right by the shower. I have gone as far as sending him a picture of the boxers to his phone while he is at work….. I’ve put post it notes all over the house……. NOTHING WORKS! I do not get this hahaha!!! I love him dearly but come on!!! haha

I’m the gross one to him! I’m fine with eating cold meat/leftovers and I like to fix myself rather primitive snacks. I also fart a lot in my sleep, (probably because of the aforementioned snacks, hehe).
The only thing I can think of is that he doesn’t always brush his teeth in the morning.
