Inspired by another thread, I started to think "What are the most important days in my life thus far..."
For me it's
1. College graduation. That meant so much to me and to my future.
2. After graduation I actually (you are going to laugh at me) have to say the day boyfriend looked over at me, we were at a bar, and said those magic words "let's get a cat." We were living together (and he isn;t the first i lived with) and i know we were both hoping we would be together forever, but until we got that cat, we weren't a family. After we got the cat, I knew the ring was only a short way off. I knew then that he wanted not only to live with me but make a home with me forever. =)
@coffeekitty: I completely hear you on your second point. We adopted our cat labor day weekend of 2008, we got engaged labor day weekend of 2010. But I knew, the day we took home a cat together, we would be a family forever.
So far?
1. Graduation
2. Day I met fiance
3. College
4. When I decided to write as a career
5. Engagement day
6. Day we decided to move out of our place
7. The day I found a bra that fit.
@casteel_dream: haha #7 is huge! I recently found out I had ALWAYS worn the wrong size and when I got some new bras, it was a miracle. Lol. Now my boobs look better and no more bruises under my arms!
College graduation, day we met, our first Christmas together after moving in (even though it was the following weekend but still, we made dinner and exchanged presents while watching Christmas movies), our first valentine's together, and the day we actually moved in to our first apartment together.
@casteel_dream: I'm with you on the bra thing, it took me forever to find one that fit perfectly!
@casteel_dream: #7 is great! haha
1) College graduation
2) Our first date - I pretty much could tell he was going to be the one
3)Day my husband and I got our two guinea pigs. (Just like you CoffeeKitty, I knew we'd be together forever when getting our piggies, even though we weren't engaged yet)
4) Weddings (Indian and U.S. weddings)
5) July 11, 2010 -The day we realized I was pregnant (I miscarried two weeks later)
Edit: Oh my gosh! I forgot to say the day he proposed. :)
1. The first night I worked on the college newspaper. I had no idea that I was going to love it so much, and that's the first time I hung out with people who became my best friends (for a few years).
2. When FI proposed :).
3. When I graduated.
1. The night I met FI
2. The day I graduated from college.
3. The day FI and I moved into our apartment in NYC.
4. The day we adopted our cat.
5. The day FI proposed.
6. The day my sister & I sang to my dad for his birthday as a surprise and everyone at the party cried.
7. The day my grandfather died. I never felt so far away from my family than the day my dad called to tell me.
college graduation, when i started my first job in my career, and the day my fiance moved back to me after 4 years of a cross-country college LDR...which is also the day he proposed :)
im still lookin for a bra that fits perfectly!
- The day I got my first paid job in my chosen profession
- The day I moved to London
- DH's and my first kiss
- The proposal
- The wedding
1.) Day I met FI
2.) Day I got a hairut I actually loved (this has only happened once in my life)
3.) Day FI proposed
4.) Day I realized what I want my career to be (too bad I still can't find a steady job in it...)
5.) Day I found out I would be an RA in college (it was a really big deal to me...)
Important days I'm looking forward to in the future:
1.) Wedding Day
2.) Day I find out I"m pregnant
3.) Day(s) my child(ren) is/are born
4.) Day I'm offered a full-time job in my profession
1. day my daughter was born. DEFINATELY #1
2. Day FI propose of course
3. about a month and 1/2 ago, the day our first home was "ours"
4. The day FI and I become long distance NO more after 4 years!
yayyyyyyyyyy
Huh. Most of you are only writing good days. I've had lots of important days, but they're split about evenly between good and bad.
1) The day my family moved from Minnesota to Texas.
2) The day BF first told me he loved me.
3) Mother's Day 2004, when my brother was at his worst.
4) The day BF and I broke up.
5) The day I was told by other cast members that I needed to audition for cast at the local renaissance festival.
6) The day my awful ex broke up with me.
7) The day I moved to Japan.
8) The day BF and I said "I love you" for the first time again.
9) The day I moved back to the States to be with BF.
Wow - I'm surprised! A lot of you are naming good/exciting things but they aren't things that I would consider "Important" days in my own life!
If I'm being honest, the only day's I'd truely classify as important are:
Yeah, the proposal was great, getting my first job was great, moving out on my own was exciting, etc but I wouldn't classify any of those things as truely "Important". "Important" to me is those days that I hold near and dear to my heart. The birth of my children will be added to this list when that time comes.
1. The day I was born (haha - think about it)
2. The day my father passed away
...I'm thinking the wedding day will be added to that list, but that's about it.
I thought it's interesting that most people put their graduation day on the list... that's not even close to on my radar (but maybe because it was 14 years ago for me....)
Umm, let's see.
1. The day I finally met FI face-to-face after talking on the internet for four years
2. The day he asked me to be his g/f in his cute little shy boy way
3. The day we moved in together
4. The day he proposed
5. When I found out I was preggo
6. The day our daughter was born
7. The day we bought our first house
8. I suppose the day of my FIs truck accident could be included as important as its changed us and our family for the rest of our lives. It was defnitely not a positive event but I'm sure I'll be remembering Oct 24, 2009 for the rest of my life (unfortunately)
1. The day I successfully baked my first cheesecake (seriously, it was so much more exciting than graduating college)
2. The day I ran a mile without stopping (And this one? Even more exciting than the cheesecake.)
3. The day FI and I brought home our fur baby, Ginny.
4. My and FI's first date.
Still to come, days that I'm sure will be added to most important:
1. Wedding Day
2. When I find out I'm pregnant
3. The day I have my children
4. The day I start my career, not just a job.
I love to see how people classify important days in their life, for me if I hear life changing days that will often take me to sad times but asked about important days will often make me think of the happy days.
1. When I received my British work visa - I started to cry when the UPS guy handed me the package and totally freaked him out!
2. When I graduated college - I was the first person in my family so everyone was excited
3. The day I flew to Sweden to be with my FI - It was a big leap of faith since we had only met a month and a half before and spent three weeks together in that time
4. When my little brothers were born - they are 14 and 16 yrs younger then me
@casteel_dream: I am so with you on the bra thing. I cried, and not tears of joy, because I was taken down two band sizes, and up two cup sizes. I felt huge! But then I realized how much better I looked, and how my back was no longer hurting. Seriously amazing!
Honestly, there is only one day I can think of that is truly important to me...as in it's had the biggest affect on me and changed my world comepletely. It was the day my father died. I'm my father's only child and my parents are divorced so I was the one who had to tell the surgeon to take him off life support. I was there all by myself the moment he passed and as devastating as it was...it was also the greatest gift I have ever received. To not only carry out my father's last wishes but to be there with him as it happened.
Chronologically since it's hard to rate any
The day my grandma died
The day my hs track team won the triple crown in our county
The day I left for college
The day my 4x800 team beat Bucknell at Indoor Championships and I PRed for the last time
The day I found out that my "internship" at Nat Geo had turned into a job
The day I moved out to Washington
The day I received my grade for my thesis film for grad school and officially graduated
The day I moved into my first (and only!) apartment in Seattle by myself
The day my FH and I decided we'd try to make it work long distance while I lived in CA
The day I moved in with my FH
The day we picked up our puppy
The day we bought a car together
The day we received keys to our new home
The day he proposed
I think all these things have been big WOAH moments in my life. Where it's been that something really big just happened, my life or my attitude just changed dramatically.
wow, like others have said the most imporant/significant days of my life aren't all the happy ones....
-the day my sister passed away (9 days before my college graduation, which was more important to her than me LOL)
-the day my bf (now FI) bought his house and we moved in together in our "own" place.
-the day that we got our two babies (dogs) - which were about 6 months apart
-the day I realized that I would choose my FI and our family (us and our 2 furbabies) over my family - for me it was a big deal
-hopefully the wedding will be a pretty big one :) But we've lived together for so long we're basically already married if common law marriages were legal...
Looking back, really only 8 and 10 matter.
@sarahd07: Wow! That's truly powerful.
1) The day I had my daughter
2) Meeting my husband
3) Graduating College
4) The big wedding (a month away, eeeeek)
1. The day my husband proposed. It was the happiest day of my life, inlcuding my wedding day
2. The day I graduated from college
3. The first day of our honeymoon - it was the first time I got to relax with my husband
I would have to say:
By far the most significant day to date would be the day (first day in college) my parents told me they almost gave my youngest brother up for adoption 23 years ago..they had to sacrefice and risk his life not going through with the adoption (the people who wanted to adopt my brother had the means and methods to keep him on his treatments), but miraculously he survived without medical them..i think it was love and god's willing that saved him.
The rest would have to be, my graduation, my siblings' graduations, getting the keys to our first home, witnessing my brother get his white coat for med school (good thing my parents kept him)..
and future will hold these significant dates:
My Masters degree
Our wedding day
My brother's graduation from Med school
Kids
and much much more
Hmm....for me....in no particular order:
1. Each day my siblings were born
2. The day DH got back from Iraq (the 2nd happiest day of my life)
3. Wedding Day (happiest day of my life)
4. College graduation day (was the first one EVER on either side to graduate from college).
(1) The day my parents met with the principal and was told I was being transferred to honors class. I thought I was in trouble for getting called into the principal's office with my parents.
(2) The day I was told I could skip 7th and 8th grade, and head straight to 9th grade.
(3) Getting accepted to cheerleading. I thought only the popular girls got in.
(4) Anchoring my class's debate team and winning the contest.
(5) The day I bought my first car that my parents helped me purchase. I had no license yet and couldn't even drive it out of the lot.
(6) College graduation, Magna cum Laude
(7) The day I paid off my first car.
(8) The day I bought my second car all on my own in cash.
(9) The day I signed escrow on my home.
(10) My first date with the fiance'
(11) The day I was offered my first executive role at the age of 28.
(12) The day I got accepted to graduate school, then graduation 2 years later (June 14, 2009 is ingrained in my head forever)
(13) The day my fiance' and I got engaged
(14) The day my fiance' graduated college
(15) The day we get married =)
1) College Graduation
2) The day I realized the man I'd been with for 10 years didn't love me so I broke it off (I know it's weird but that realtionship taught me SO MUCH, good and bad - I was with him from 15-25!)
3) The day I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis
4) FI and I's first date
5) The day I told him I was sick with no cure. 3 weeks in to dating him I prefaced with "I'm really starting to like you so there's something you should know. I will understand and be okay if it's a deal breaker" Afterward he said "I have a question...so you're really starting to like me ?" with a huge grin on his face. I'll never forget that moment.
6) The day FI proposed
The day my daughter was born: 7/10/03
The day my ex husband walked out of our marriage: 12/1/06
1) the day I got sober
2) the day my FI bought his house (he moved to live closer to me and bought the house with the expectation that someday it would be our home)
3) The days my brother and sister were born
4) The days I held each of my nieces for the first time
5) the day FI proposed
The day my baby sister was born, 1997
The day my parents told us they were getting divorced, 2000
The day I adopted my dog when I was just 18 years old, 2006
The day I got offered a full time job in my field TWO months before graduating! 2008
The day I made the decision to leave my last relatioship that was terribly abusive, Jan. 2009
The day the boy told me he loved me, June 2009 :)
Yesterday, the day I found out my older dog (who is absolutely MY BABY) has severe spinal issues and will have to take meds everyday, and absolutely no more running, playing, etc. :( We have a long road in front of us but I am glad she can at least still walk! It could be worse. We are gonna be alright!! :)
Hmm, mine might be TMI. In chronological order:
I had one more to add which was the day we found out that our bid was accepted for our house.
In reading everyone else's posts, we have so many strong women on this site, and it makes me proud of everyone here! Looking at the accomplishments, the births, deaths, marriages, divorces, emotional and physical abuse...and we all still managed to come out of life very happy. The Bees seriously rock...
1) The day I almost died in a car accident
2) The day I met my husband
3) Our wedding day
4) The day he proposed
5) The day my grandfather died
6) The day my grandmother died
7) the day I learned my father had a stroke
8) Deciding to buy a house together
9) The day we closed on our house
Not necessarily in order - though #1 is probably the biggest one for me.
1. The day I was assigned a solo at dance school. I was the youngest ever, and it was awesome.
2. My first day at college. I was REALLY close to my mom and sister. I was so excited, but also terrified, and watching them drive away after I was unpacked made me cry and realize how much I loved them. My first few weeks were so, so tough for me.
3. The night my husband first said, "I love you."
4. When the hubs proposed.
5. Our wedding day.
6. The day I got my first client for my own business. THAT was truly an amazing feeling.
What I'm looking forward to:
1. The last day at my 9-5 job, and the day my full time job becomes my business (which is soon!).
2. Going on my (and his) first tropical vacation together next year.
3. Buying a house/quiet days at home with our future garden.
4. The day kids are brought into our lives (be in naturally or via adoption).
5. Our kid's wedding days :)
