Hi Everyone! I am choosing 3 appetizers for my upcoming wedding. My theme is luxury, glamoror, and i am trying to have a very trendy look. If you could please please pick the most luxurious and trendy appetizer of the ones listed, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so so much everyone!

ps. Last time I was on here a lot of people were being really mean when I said I want a luxurious flavor. Please, if this is what you are going to say, then just do not respond. That is our theme so I want to stick to it all the way around. Thanks so much for your help everyone!

@katiee0707:You should try and make it so people can vote for more than one appetizer! I think a few of them sound delicious but I don't want to pick just one! :)

EDIT: Nevermind - I read your post again and see that you only want people to pick one!! :)

definitely go for a seafood type appetizer if you are going for luxury.  Some of the veggie and cheese appetizers sound DELICIOUS but i wouldn't associate them with luxury.

We had mini crepes with caviar at our wedding.  People loved them and used the word "luxurious and glam to discribe them"

I would be cautious on going too far with the flavors. Delicacies like rotten shark might be "lux", but no one wants to touch that with a ten foot pole. I would make sure to only pick one "out there" flavor,  one "sure to please" app, and one safe app. You don't want your guests saying "Ooooh these look FANCY!" then wrinkling their noses once they pop it into their mouths. My suggestions:

    Out there:

    • Watermelon Brulee
    • Bacon wrapped Dates
    • Fig, Quince, & Goat cheeese Tart
    • Fennel Lavender Cheesecake

    Sure to Please:

    • Gazpacho
    • Sundried Tomato Tart (try something other than goat cheese, a lot of people have a strong adversion to it. Marscapone? Ricotta? Smoked Mozzerella?)
    • Sake Infused Watermelon
    • Brie and Vanilla Brouchee

    Safe bets:

    • Crab cakes
    • Mu shu Duck Crepes
    • Tomato Bisque
    • Lemongrass and Apricot Glazed Scallops.

@katiee0707: I voted for the brie... creamy and delicious. Yum. I would love to see pictures of your wedding !!!! I love anything glamorous and elegant but it's just not in the budget. It will have to be just above average nice, haha.

I don't think its nice that people were mean to you - BUT - when it comes to food, things can be very "luxurious" looking/sounding, but that doesn't mean people want to eat them.  Pick some things that YOU love, it is your wedding, after all - but pick mostly things that the majority of your guests will appreciate too.  Things like crabcakes and gazpacho are usually a safe bet - and anything you choose with a fancy topping or sause, you should have available plain as well for the less daring eaters. I was at a wedding with a caviar station once, and I don't think anyone touched it - probably a waste of 500 bucks or so.  Know your audience :)

@katiee0707: The Brie is by far the most luxurious...the crab cakes are familiar, and safe...if its going to be luxury, it should be things people won't recognize...

I acutally love love love figs rapped in bacon so I am sure dates taste similar. I do have to agree with the PP I hate goat cheese, and can't take the tiniest bit of it.

Your guests will care more about what it tastes like and whether it's good or not than looks or the name. It can be the fanciest thing in the world but if it tastes crappy, it won't be worth the expense if no one eats it.

That said, the mu shu crepe and crab cakes will likely be the biggest crowd pleasers from that list.

I would say pick what tastes the best, then give them "Lux" names...a quick Google Translate into French or Italian or whatever language suits the food well will probably convey a very glam feeling while not isolating any guests by selecting something too obscure for their palates.

Mu shu and crabcakes. I don't care if it's luxury, I care that it tastes good.

I voted Crab Cakes with Safron Aioli Jam, it's the only one I would honestly try.
