I have a list going at work… I’ll try to get back on here tomorrow when I’m at work and post it. I’ve been coming up with good dance songs to be played.

Lees – here is what I just did when I was flying home. I printed our my entire iTunes list (just highlight the list and press copy and then paste in an Excel sheet) after I printed it out I highlighted all the must plays and strong recommendations. I also printed out the play list posts by several bees to see what I may have left out.

We played mostly motown oldies at our wedding for dance music and mixed in some more modern stuff (and when I say more modern, I mean still old). Some of the favs were:

Heatwave
Dancin’ in the Streets
Get Up Offa That Thing
Respect
Chain of Fools
Reach Out (I’ll Be There)
All Day and All of the Night
Come Sail Away
Nowhere to Run
Baby Love
Get Ready – Tempatations
Shout!
Twist and Shout
Hold On, I’m Comin’
Soul Man
You Really Got Me
I Want You Back
Proud Mary
I Can’t Get No Satisfaction
Think
Don’t Stop Believin’ (always a crowd pleaser)
Brown Eyed Girl
Sweet Caroline
I Want You to Want Me

Hope that helps!

Depends on what your crowd listens to, to be honest.

Group songs:

ChaCha Slide

Cupide Shuffle

YMCA

Twist

Macarena (no idea if I spelled that right)

Electric Slide

Chicken dance

Hokey Pokey (great if you have a lot of kids there)

A Few Slow songs:

At Last- Etta James

Unbreakable- Westlife

Everything I do- Byran Adams

So Beautiful- Savage Garden

This Never Happened Before-Paul McCartney

Amazed- Lonestar

My Best Friend- Tim McGraw

I love the way you love me- John Micheal Montgomery

I’ll Be -Edwin McCain

I Knew I loved You Before I met You- Savage Garden

The Way You Look Tonight-Frank Sinatra

It’s Your Love- Tim McGraw & Faith Hill

Truly Madly, Deeply- Savage Garden

I fianlly Found Someone- Bryan Adams and Barbara Striesand

I Do- Paul Brandt

Unchained Melody- Rightous Brothers

I Do- 98 Degrees

Filler songs really depend on your tastes but it’s good to do about every 7th-12th song as a slow song. Really I would advise most importantly to hire a DJ if you plan on dancing. He or she can pump the party up when it gets too slow and bring it down when it needs to be done. Plus make all your announcements. I’m not trying to be biased (i’m a DJ), but I’m trying to save you some hassel. Plus your dj shouldn’t require a specific list, just a list of specialty songs and must plays and a genre or two.

i am so happy to see other twenty-somethings whose song lists were heavily ‘oldies’: music from the ’40’s-70’s is just about all i listen to, heh, and i felt a bit like of a freak for wanting it so much at my wedding (i know FI will want to throw in a lot of more contemporary stuff like radiohead).  for some reason i can’t tolerate most new-school love song pop, it sounds so cheesy, but when it’s from 50 years ago, it just seems cute. 😛

I haven’t started this yet really but a few would be.. (forgive me for the Sp and lack of knowing the song titles & artists ..lol)

Tonights gunna be a good night – Black eyed peas
Boom Boom Pow – Black eyed peas
Wakin’ up in Vegas – Katey Perry
Tik Tok – Ke$ha     [ po po shut us down!…. my fav part! ha]
Down- Jay Sean
Evacuate the dance floor – Cascada
911 – Sean Kingston

So far these are my fav’s to dance to.. but there will be a good mix for all different ages. But my friends (17-28) will be all over these songs.

Hope this helps 🙂

@sunshine- that is a GREAT list! I think it is good for all ages, but definitely something the younger crowd would enjoy.

I’d add Yeah by Usher, Like a Prayer by Madonna, Jump on it by Sir MixALot, Get Low by Flow Rida, Sexy Back by JT, Pour some Sugar on Me, and whatever is popular at the time of your wedding.

“Heyyy, Hey Baby!”

I’m not sure what it’s called though. But it’s always a lot of fun!

@ Sunshine – Your song “I would walk 500 miles” is by The Proclaimers, just so you know the artist!

I am still working on my playlist – its so hard to pick songs!
