Oooooh, I was just thinking about this yesterday while updating my Netflix queue. I loved Tristan and Susannah in Legends of the Fall (sniffle!!!!!) I wanted them to be together so badly...I love that movie. (Aaaaah, Brad Pitt....)
Fun thread!
Harry and Sally. I watch that movie every time it comes on tv and it still makes me bawl when Harry says, "I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start right now." Ahhhhhh!
Gone with the Wind -- Scarlett and Rhett. (Scarlett by herself, without Rhett, is even more romantic.)
The English Patient -- Katherine Clifton and Count Almasy. (Almasy by himself, without Katherine, is even more romantic.)
Gone with the Wind- Scarlett and Rhett (high five BubblyBride!)
Pride and Prejudice- Lizzie and Darcy
Friends- Ross and Rachel
The Time Traveler's Wife: Henry & Clare- I've read it 3 times and I always cry in the end! I'm in doubt about how the movie is going to portray the somewhat complicated timeline, but I'll still see it on opening day. It's my favorite book ever...after Harry Potter!
I agree with Natakie16, Time Traveler's Wife is the best (romantic) book I have ever read. I read the whole thing in one week, where it normally takes me a month to read one book! I can't wait for the movie to come out.
Hands down Miss Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice (the book and the BBC movie with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth).
i agree with Mrs. Bee on 'The Notebook', but i'm such a fan on Jane Austen classics, like 'Pride or Prejudice' or 'Emma' (i love both books and movies)
I agree with Elizabeth Bennett & Mr. Darcy. Their relationship kind of reminds me of FI's and mine (only without the getting at each other in the beginning).
definately Harry and Sally--I love that movie!!
also marrianne and col. brandon from sense and sensibility.
ugh, now i'm in the mood to watch a chick flick! lol
Mmmmm Cecilia and Robbie in Atonement. I loved the book and when the movie came out and James McAvoy (SWOON) was playing Robbie, I pretty much just died. Also, I want the green dress Keira Knightley wears. If I could find it that would be my rehearsal dinner dress. Totally too much, but so hot.
Others: I love Mark Darcy and Bridget Jones, which is kind of cheesy but I don't care :)
TV: Maybe they aren't the most romantic couple on earth, but Kate and Sawyer (again, SWOON) from Lost are pretty spectacular.
Great thread, btw!
PS. I love you - great movie! although maybe not the MOST romantic, its one of my definate favs!
I have to go with the Notebook as well. I cry my eyes out EVERY time I watch it. Some randoms but I still liked the movies are Benny and Joon (hello Johnny Depp) and Rose and Jack (Kate and Leonardo) of the Titanic
Ok, since no one has mentioned it, I also love Jim and Pam (go PB&J!).
Did anyone see the season finale? My husband says I always go off their relationship for cues on where we should be. He could be right since lately I have been thinking a lot about "the next step" (the step Jim and Pam took in the season finale episode).
Oh! What about Love Story? With Ali McGraw and Ryan O'Neil. Rich boy meets poor girl, falls in love, she dies. Wow. Unbelievably wonderful!
I have to, have to, have to mention 'Casablanca' as it is my fiance's and my favorite movie to watch together. We're even having our first dance to "As Time Goes By" sung by Frank Sinatra. Such a romantic story! I love it!
"The Very Thought of You" ,Joseph Fiennes being there is a plus. I also like "Love Actually". I guess I can say I'm a hopeless romantic. ![]()
I'm going with the movie relationship that makes me cry every single time I watch it: the two robots in Wall-E!
Hands down Noah & Allie from the Notebook...I can't watch that movie 1,000 different times and still cry....I know I'm a dork, lol :)
I'm all about Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy!
Though I have to agree with carrie...Eve and Wall-E get me, too!
Notebook,
The new movie Up. very much so. It was so sweet and romantic. A timeless forever love. Awww..
Love Actually
You've Got Mail.
Eve & Roarke - from J.D. Robb's In Death series
and
Westley & Buttercup - from the Princess Bride
:)
Now I feel like watching the Notebook, even though I watched it about two weeks ago and have seen it a million times... I just love it!!
Pocohantas and John Smith are another good one :p
tv couple though, Homer and Marge! It's so cute how Marge loves Homer even though he annoys the bajeebus out of her, and they go through some really tough times, but still manage to hold themselves together and rediscover their love for each other. Reminds me of hubby and I :p maybe not romantic, but oh so sweet
Roman Holiday! Gregory Peck & Audrey Hepburn ... awesome!

I rewatched The Notebook recently. No matter how many times I watch it, I cry and cry.
Scene:
::rain falling::
Noah: It wasn't over... it's still not over!
Siiiiiiiiiiigh. I woulda picked Noah for sure!
What do you think is the most romantic movie/television/book relationship of all time?
