One day last summer we woke up one Saturday and decided, let’s go see the ocean! So we hopped in th car, and drove six hours to south padre island. We spent the afternoon swimming, drinking beer, shopping in the tourist stores for DHs first souvenir EVER (seriously!) and ate at an awesome seafood restaurant right on the waters edge. Then we hopped back in the car and drove back home! It was so spontaneous and fun, we love road trips too for all the quality time but the ocean was just a plus. 🙂 one of our best memories!

I think the most ‘spontaneous’ thing OH and I have done is midnight mcdonalds. More gluttony than anything!

The first summer FI and I were dating, we decided at roughly 8:00 at night that we were going to get in the car and start driving to Pittsburgh (we live about 4 hours away). We made it about halfway on the turnpike before stopping at a hotel for the night, and then woke up early the next day to go do multiple things in the area. We were able to visit the Flight 93 Memorial in Somerset, stop to see an hour or two of the Steelers at their training camp (he knew I was a Steelers fan and suggested we look into it – we Googled it and got lucky that they were only about an hour away from our hotel!), and visit the Monroeville Mall (FI is a horror nut and that is the mall where they filmed the original Dawn of the Dead film).  It was such a random day filled with random things that we both loved, and it was so cool that it worked out we were able to do all of those things in one day. I’m not the spontaneous type at all, so it was a big leap for me to just get in the car with him and drive without any plans or reservations. I’m glad I did it, and trusting him to have a good time led to me learning to relax and let go more. We spent 8 hours in the car together and had some great conversation that brought us even closer.  While it might sound silly, that was one of the most fun trips we’ve taken together.

Back in January we were suffering some serious winter blues. We booked two tickets to Las Vegas to see our favorite band. We leave next week, and have been excited about it for months! Its our first trip without our daughter who is two and a half. I am nervous but super excited for just the husband and I to get away!

I don’t know if this is the most spontaneous thing we’ve ever done, but his 21st bday was on a Monday last year. At 11:30 Sunday night I decided we were flying to Biloxi for the day to go gamble and drink! So at 6am Monday morning we were on our way to the airport lol Oh, and I had a final on Tuesday….

Another was this past December. We were leaving for the Dominican Republic Monday morning. Sunday afternoon at about 3:30 I called to book his flight. Our flight for Monday was full and the only way we could get to the DR was to fly to NYC and leave from there. He got off work at 4, so I called him and told him to hurry home so we could make our 6:45 flight to NYC. At first he told me no, but he had no choice and we spent the night in NYC lol

We travel a lot and most of our trips are spontaneous. Or even if we know where we are going, we have NO idea what we are going to do or how we are going to do it lol

We decided to go to Ireland!  We’d been TTC for a while, and was saving my vacation time, but when May rolled around and I wasn’t pregnant yet, we decided to go on a trip so we got flights and went 2.5 weeks later.
