I had some fun reading the “wierdest thing you’ve seen on a registry” thread… then I took a look at my own. I’m happy with our list, but there are definitely items I didn’t anticipate adding on there before we went scan happy.
Like FI’s find: the EuroSealer.
We do a lot of camping and this will be handy to seal bags back up (so we don’t have to keep wasting ziplocks to keep the ants out).
What surprised you during your registry adventures?

Hmmm…I think one of the things I didn’t anticipate registering for but really hope I get is a jar opener. It’s one of those things you don’t realize you need until you need it, y’know?

At one point, I went to the restroom and handed the scanner off to DH in BB&B. Next thing I knew, there were 3 different popcorn poppers added to the list! haha

We’ve actually registered for several board games. We both love board games, and we would love to increase our stock pile, but that is just a luxury expense we can’t afford so we decided to add them to our registry. Actually I would take that over linens and dishes anytime.

@MrsEdamame: LOL, my FI did this with a soda maker. Although he drinks a lot of seltzer, so it kind of makes sense.
@CMSnails: That never occurred to me… like a metal adjustable one?
@SandyThePoet: Great idea!

We registered for board games too!
We also registered for seasons 1-4 of ALF on dvd. We didn’t get that though 🙁

a monkey soap dispenser. When we were registering we came accross it and we were joking about registering for it – part of an inside joke – then we decided we really wanted it so we did!!!
It turned out awesome because my flower girl gave it to me at my shower and she was SOOO EXCITED. It was adorable =)

@CMSnails: I totally wish I would have thought of that!!!
I think the weirdest thing we put on our registry was a batter dispenser. We ended up getting the dispenser and a batter bowl :),

We had a plunger and a toilet cleaner. It was the one that matched the bathroom set but I still think it’s weird.

We had board games and sleeping bags on our registry!
We also had a warm blanket for our bed that my cousin (who bought it for us) was kidding with me about questioning why we need it since we live in TX (I get really cold!).

Our amazon registry lets us get pretty weird…I’m sure some people will find a fire extinguisher strange, but we really should have one and it’s something I don’t care to drop $30 on. Solar lights, bungee cords, a hand cart, a shipping scale, memorabilia from our college campus store…
I think board games have come to be expected on a registry these days! And people loovveee to buy them.

We’re doing board games, too.
I think what will surprise most people is the dishware. I’m a potter, and I don’t care to have normal dishes from the store. Instead, I want art I can eat off of. I’ve already got a pottery collection started, but it’s definitely not big enough yet. FI and I registered for random pieces of pottery by artists that we love. No china or Target dishware for us!

I think the weirdest thing that was on our registry was a “shake weight”! My husband is a South Park fan and a few of our friends who got his sense of humor had a good laugh. We never actually got it, which I’m glad. I would have been mortified if someone bought it and called out “for a good ol’ fashioned” in front of my grandmother at the shower.
