If you don't want to slow dance, maybe after the mother/son dance you and your mom could start off a fun dance like the electric slide or choreograph something to the first bit of a dance song you both like, then invite everyone to the floor. It would be cute and funny, and it would be a good way to get everyone dancing.

Okay, so here's the story, I thought I dodged this bullet with the boy, but it is very important to him to honor his mother by having a spotlight "mother/son" dance.
I know this is very tradional, but I really thought we just wouldn't be partaking in all of these traditions. This is the story of us though, he's the traditional one and I'm the to heck with tradition (mostly) one.
I don't have a relationship with my father, and my Mother is not remarried, so I wanted to dodge this particular bullet all together.
Now I'm wondering, how about a mother/daughter dance? But no slow dance, I've seen those on youtube, and definitely not us.
Any ideas? Or should I just make sure that my Mom is okay with not doing something and just let him do his thing?
