I'm having an outdoor wedding & reception this Saturday (July 30th). It has been sunny, mid 90s all last week and this week but SURPRISE, on my wedding day there is a 60% chance of scattered thunderstorms with highs in the mid 80s. Isn't July supposed to be hot and dry?! Anyone else been in this situation and have it NOT rain?

@kmdykes: The weather called for an 80% chance of rain and storms on my wedding day.  It rained until 11am and was completely dry by about 12 or 12:30.

Yes!  I also had an outdoor ceremony, and was obsessively checking the weather to see the % chance of rain.  A few days before, and the day OF, my wedding, it was 60% chance of thunderstorms.  I was nervous, but realized there was nothing I could do about it and just to go with the flow.  The clouds were rolling in before and during the ceremony--it made for some great pictures, by the way--and as soon as the ceremony was over and cocktail hour began, a huge thunderstorm started.  So we didn't get to take pics outside after the ceremony or have cocktail hour on the porch of the venue, but the wedding wasn't ruined at all by a little rain.

My coworker got married a couple weeks before me, and the couple had to overnight ship a bunch of white umbrellas for the bridal party to carry for their pics since it was storming all day.  It looked very cool!

Do you have any precautionary measures or other options for the ceremony/reception, since both will be outside?  Perhaps a tent or an indoor area, or even some cool umbrellas?

@kmdykes: Oh yes. I actually posted on the Bee in tears the night before about how I wouldn't be able to have the outdoor ceremony I'd dreamed of.  It was 80% chance of thunderstorms for the next day.

Well, it was gray and drizzly until about 2 hours before the ceremony.  Then, the clouds literally parted. We ended up being able to do it outside (although it did get a big gray again), and then it started raining again about 2 hours after the ceremony.  It was amazing.

I had my wedding in January in Minnesota (smart... i know haha), but I had a bridal shower, fitting, and a few meetings all cancelled because of a horrible snow storm.... With the winter we had I'm thankful it barely snowed on our wedding day!
