    I think you are over thinking it. Black and navy wont look weird together. I personally like the bottom dress. But if her heart is set on the navy oh well, its not like she is wearing the same dress, let her wear it.

    That dress is beautiful in navy!! I think everyone will know she’s not in the bridal party because hers looks more like a mom’s dress.

    If she loves the navy, let her go with it.  You want your mother to be happy and comfortable at your wedding.

    My BM wore long navy dresses and the dress my mom found was also a long, navy dress.  They didn’t look matchy-matchy at all and in fact, it looked great together.  On thing that may have helped though was that my girls wore satin and my mom’s dress was chiffon.   It looks as though both dresses for you are chiffon but they are so different, I don’t think you have any cause to worry.  Let her go with what she likes best.

    I think black and navy look fine together. I’d steer her away from navy just so her colour choice is different than the bridesmaids.
