I wouldn’t wear champagne personally as it’s a bit too much of a ‘bridal’ colour for me to risk it but as for colours that go well with royal blue I think you can get away with most shades of blue. Or I think even a dark purple would look nice if you prefer to wear darker shades. Or maybe a nice gold? I’m a pear so can’t really help with silhouettes that suit an apple the best but perhaps something with rouching or an A-Line would be most flattering.

diane.b.potter:  You’re a  thoughtful future mother in law to be considerate of the color scheme your future daughter in law wants.

The old rule about black is no longer followed. It does not show disrespect or disagreement with the marriage if the mom(s). or anyone else, wears black.

Contrary to the opinion of the previous post, it is very common for MOG (mother of the groom) or MOB(mother of the bride) to wear champagne. It is a very flattering color for a mature woman.

I suggest you consider pewter. It will look great with blue and silver. plus size pewter dress-alex evenings woman sequined jacket dress plus size pewter dress-alex evenings plus size sequin lace dress and jacket or Plus Size Black Affair Dress image

I agree with the PP  that I wouldn’t take any offence at the MOB wearing black. I was also taught that growing up, but most people ignore it these days.

For you, luckily I think there are a lot  of colors that would go well with royal blue. My first thought was gold, which I think would look fabulous. Champagne would work  as well, so long as it isn’t too light (to be mistaken for white in photos). My MIL looked at a lovely deep purple dress that would also work well. What colors  do  you like?

I agree with everything Julies said. Pewter! That’s a great solution and will indeed look good with blue and black without making a lady feel larger.

It’s nice of you to think so carefully about how to look good in your future DIL’s wedding.
