My bridesmaids are wearing knee length, classic navy blue with white polka dots dresses. Junior bridesmaid is wearing a long navy and white stripe dress. We are also planning light pink coverups — either shawl or cardigan, not sure yet. Groomsmen are wearing navy sweatervests, dark grey pants and light pink ties (possibly with polka dots or stripes also–though groom doesn’t love that idea!). Based on that…I have no idea what the mothers should wear! Any ideas?

Whatever they want! Mothers of the bride and groom are not members of the wedding party.

Short of a loud, Hawaiian print, the mothers should wear what they want. Colors don’t matter!

ashley.krause.923: Unless they are asking you for guidance, I would asume they can dress themselves.
If they are asking you for your opinion, I would suggest dusky blue, pewter, champagne, silver, dusty rose etc.

ashley.krause.923: Whatever she wants! The MOB should never blend in to the background. It’s a special day for her as well.

Let her pick her own dress!

Our wedding colors were coral (2 different shades) and white, my mom wore a beautiful blue and my mother in law wore a printed purple dress- they looked wonderful!

My mom and FMIL picked a dress they were comfortable in. Only colour I didn’t want them to pick was what the maids are wearing (dark red). My mom choose a navy dress and FMIL is going to wear a dark purple dress. It was hard enough for both of them to pick a dress let alone a specific colour

MY mom probably bought and tried on more dresses than I did, ha. But, she’ll be wearing a knee-length sleeveles navy dress. The BM dresses are AA Meditteranean Blue, so not navy or cobalt – in between. She had looked at navy and beige color dresses.
The MOG is wearing a black dress.
I said they could wear whatever they want!

Thanks everyone! I tried the “whatever you want” route, but both of then were seeking more guidance. They want to look coordinated in the pictures without stepping on the bridesmaids toes!
