I like it. So many MOB dresses are drab and unflattering. A sparkly dress like this is rather refreshing.

I can see why you think it’s a bit much, though.

It’s dazzling! Depending on the formality of the wedding this dress might be a little much. Does your dress have a lot of sparkle? Are the bridesmaid dresses more cocktail than black Tie? Maybe you can use those excuses to convince her that it may be a bit too much? Any chance you can go shopping with her? That might give you an opportunity to steer her a bit.

My mom had her heart set on s heavily bedazzled dress and that’s how I was able to talk her off the ledge. Good luck!

I really like it especially with your dress. I think its fine. I told my mom just find something you like.

I love it! I’d love if my mum was going to wear something like that! However could you go for something short with a little sparkle for MOG in a complimentary colour? that way they’d look quite similar and she wouldn’t feel underdressed x

I think it’s fine for a formal wedding. My mom looked at some similar styles from Adrianna Papell and I thought they were quite pretty.

I’d just make sure she tries it on and walks around in it a bit before she buys. Some of that embellishment can really hurt your arms!

I like it! I think it’s gorgeous, especially for a formal wedding! I’ll echo what Westwood mentioned, though: make sure that it doesn’t chafe her arms!

I would not be happy if it was more flashy than my mom’s dress, but not much you can do about what she wears.  I would just give extra attention to my mom.  And some MILs wonder why DILs dont like them. Sigh.

I think that mother of the bride dress is beautiful actually.  You’re dress is still much more of a show stopper, and the mother of the bride is supposed to be the second best dressed person in the room, and technically she should get to pick her dress before your fiance’s mom.  A lot of moms really aren’t comfortable with showing their legs.  I think long is perfectly fine with the short bridesmaid dresses- they aren’t supposed to look the same anyways!  I picked a short bridesmaids dress, but both moms picked long dresses- granted not as bedazzled at that dress, but I would have been all for it if they had.  I would have your FMIL wear a long dress as well, but it doesn’t have to be nearly as embellished if that isn’t her thing.
