My MIL got a dress from JcPenney. I'm not sure where my stepmother got her dress from. I think that the ones at bridal shops usually look pretty weird and either like a teen dress or an old lady. I would try department stores like Macys, Dillards, etc.
My mom and my FH's stepmom both got their dresses at Neiman Marcus, and they LOVE them. They were a little pricey, but gorgous!
My mom ended up getting her dress from Nordstrom. She hated the MOB dresses at bridal shops--cheap quality for high prices.
@december and spaniel: do you guys have pics? my mom isn't into the bridal shop mob dress look either (and neither am i!)
My mom and FMIL both got dresses at the same shop I got mine. Both are in a deep purple color. My mom will have hers shortened to knee-ish length and FMIL's is actually a bmaid dress. I love both!
I have lots of pics! Here were the top contenders.
I'm actually working on a post on the subject. ;)
My mom is having a hard time deciding where to look too. I think shes going to try neimans and saks. MOB dresses at bridal shops are pretty horrible IMO.
@Mermaid1082: Do you know the designer of your MOB dress? I love it!

This was a long discussion awhile ago but there's several piictures & links she might be interested in.
Here's the dress my mom is wearing (she's having the feather removed from the shoulder):
We probably went to about a dozen if not more stores before we came across the dress my mom would wear to the wedding. Most of the dresses we came across were extemely unflattering for the figure with way too much shoulder pad (which reminded me of the 80's) making her look like a potato sack. It was extemely hard to find given the fact that she's petite and wanted to remain classy and elegant since she's in her sixties. She ended up wearing a pink Kate Unger dress she got at Saks Fifth Avenue. It was the last store we went to and I knew it was the one when she went to put it on. It looks very Audrey Hepburn. And although it did cost quite a bit, it's a dress she can wear over and over again to weddings or other formal events. (Also included is a picture of my husband who is walking her down the aisle).
You may also want to consider Nordstrom.com. They have an amazing selection of dresses to choose from. My mom was able to find a dress for the rehearsal dinner there (Adrianna Papell Petite Dress). You should look into it since there's now a half yearly sale going on!

Hi Ladies.
My mom and I NEED your help! we've been searching and we haven't been able to find anything she and I like.
Any insight on where to go and look would be great. Also, can you please share your mom's MOB dress so my mom and I can get an idea of what we like?
THANKS!!!
