    I know it's still early yet but what is everyone getting their moms and mom in laws for Mother's Day this year?

    It's kinda early this year, isn't it? May 8?

    Just sent out my MIL's birthday gift so need to start thinking about Mother's Day Gift ideas now.

    My mom is so hard to shop for, She's retired and a grandma first and foremost. I wish I can get her activity something. But if it's some place new she won't know how to get there. And she drops off my niece at school every morning and picks her up every afternoon. And I'm not there so I can take her.

    No 1800flowers or fruit basket ideas please.

    What are some gifts you have given in years past?

    What are thinking of this year?

    My Mom has a Pandora bracelet and we ususally get her a charm for the bracelet.  This year though I'm getting her a gift certificate to a 3 hour painting class that we can take together.  I like getting her gifts like this so we can do something together like go to a play or on a boat ride around town.

    Mother's Day is always the second Sunday in May, so no earlier than usual.

    My Mom died in December so no gift from me this year.

     One of the best gifts I ever gave her, at least according to her, was an album of pics of the two of us over the years, interspersed with exerpts of letters we had exchanged and little notes of memories I had of my childhood.

    @kaybee:

    The Pandora bracelet is a cute idea but my mom is not a charm bracelet kindof person. I would love to gift her an activity but I don't live near her. :(

    @julies1949:

    So sorry to hear about your mom. :(

    That sounds like a wonderful gift! I did something similar for Xmas two years ago.

    My mom does love to garden and she's always asking me to pick up vegetable plants for her. She can't really go to a nursery to buy "american" plants so usually I bring them back for her. So I'm thinking about buying them and mailing them to her. I've researched shipping live plants. I think it's no different than having Burpee sending plants in the mail. So that's a thought.

    I got my mom a Vinturi Wine Aerator - it was on sale on the recent wootoff, so I got an okay deal on it, it should be here in time for Mothers' Day. As for MIL, not sure what to get her, as she has everything already... and doesn't drink wine.

    Her bday is close to Mother's Day, so I am keeping it small this year, w/a bigger gift for bday. We love food/wine, so for mother's day I was just going to create a nice little spread of all our fave snack foods (cheese, proscuitto, etc) plus mimosas and we are just going ot hang out in the backyard all day and eat and drink. Idk how close you live to your  mom, not sure if that's possible for you.

    Last year I took her to a play in NYC (Love, Loss, & What I wore, really cute) and afterward we went out for margaritas, and the year before that I got her a diamond and pearl necklace from this store Iridesse since it was going out of biz & everything was super marked down!

    I got my mom my favorite cookbook (and I'll also get her flowers.)  Since my wedding is a week after, I also got my parents a gift certificate to a B&B.

    We got my grandparents a digital photo frame for Christmas and my Mom loves theirs so that's what we'll be getting her for Mother's Day! Last year I bought my Mom and my Grandma each a pair of Coach slip on shoes. They both love them. Neither of them would have ever spent that much money on a pair of shoes for themselves and they get a  lot of compliments on how stylish they are. They still tell me about every person who says that they love their shoes!

    I have no idea what to get FMIL...last year we got her earrings and a charm necklace.

    @7SEVENJ9:

    Good idea! My mom's not a wine drinker and MIL already has something similar. boo.

    @Seaside:

    My mom's 8 hours away and MIL is in the south. So no activity day. :(
    But when MIL was in town we did every year!

    @cyneswith:

    A cookbook is a wonderful idea!

    @Running Elley:

    haha. LOVE the Coach shoe idea.

    My mom is big on gardening in the spring and summer so we’re going to get her a gazing ball with a nice stand for her garden and a gift certificate to their local nursery.

    My FMIL is tough to buy for since she never gives us any ideas. We normally just get her a massage at the spa she frequents but I’d like to switch things up this year. I was thinking about a Pandora bracelet for her but my FSIL doesn’t seem to think she’d wear it much. I’m going to need to do some more brainstorming for her gift.

    @hermitcrab:

    We've done that a couple times for my MIL already. Just last year actually.

    And for my mom, again she doesn't speak english so that's a no go.

    I'll get  my mom a charm for her Pandora bracelet and we will go visit her for lunch. Either make something or take her out.

    My FMIL is impossible to shop for. She's also mean and nastly but I suppose we will atleast visit her that day.
