So here we are, 95 days until we tie the know. I have made a vow to myself to SERIOUSLY buckle down. I want to look back at our wedding photos and not think...gosh, I wish i worked out a lil harder and toned up a lil more.
Anyone interested in doing a weighloss challenge?? Its always nice to have someone else motivating you to do a little more. I am doing weekly measurements and weekly weigh-ins to track progress.
Any takers?
I'm always down for a weight-loss challenge! I'm weighing in once per week.
My challenge is to exercise 7 days a week - 5x at the gym and on the days I don't work out at the gym, I need to go on a brisk walk of at least a half hour.
I would love to lose 20lbs by your wedding day in just over 3 mos.
I also want to go back to my "no carbs after lunch" eating program that I was on previously. I think slipping on that rule is one of the things that has contributed to my weight loss slowing down.
So, I'm in! Who else is with us?!
i'm in as well! my dress is on layaway, and the sample fit perfectly except i need to lose about an inch off my hips. i said i would order the size up and get it altered to fit my top, but it would be soooo much easier and cheaper if i could just lose an inch. 95 days is approximately when the shop will place the order so this is perfect!
what day shall we report?
i'll have to dig out my trusty measuring tape and get a starting point!
Oh I am so in with you ladies. I have about 10-15 lbs to lose and the stupid scale has been stuck on the same number for quite some time. Great to have people to push you on.
I'll join in!! I have about 5 more lbs I'd like to lose - but they're the toughest!!!
Me! I would like to lose about 20 lbs also. I use to be 115 lbs, and now I'm 140, so bring it on! haha
I'm in!
I've already lost a pound in the past couple of days... I've been eating really badly before this, so it's not a big surprise, haha. I have about 45-ish days to lose what I can! So basically... just trying to stay healthy and motivated!
I'm in too. I need 8-10 more pounds before my Nov. 7 wedding (holy geez...it's really soon). I know I can do it -I just need a little push and a bit of accountability.
I'm in! I've been working hard and the scale is NOT budging. I've resolved to not get on the scale weekly, because it sets me back and kills my motivation. I'd like to lose 20-30 before the wedding, with the most before January (when I plan to start dress shopping!)
YES!!! I am so pumped!
I feel like you can't have the weekly weigh in and measuring on wed (maybe thats me and i'm just weird about things) Lets weigh in today, and measure today. But have our official report in on Sundays. (never know, could loose a lb by sunday!!)
Also: do you want to post your weight and measurements or say if your down or up on lbs and where your measurments stands.
Measure: Neck, Bust, Waist, Hips, Thigh (left and right) calf (left and right) and biceps (left and right)
To keep eachother motivated we can:
- Send in what you did to workout
- any good workouts to suggest
-Healthy recipes
-What you do to keep yourself on track
for example I am trying to not eat any carbs after noon (just like lorienne suggested!), cutting all my portions that I'd regularly eat in half, or at least down drink lots of water, and try to cut out any processed foods. I know its bad but i weigh in daily in the am after i pee. I feel like it kind of keeps me on track. Granted i know your weight can fluctate daily but overall that helps me too.
I've been doing this for the past two weeks and have lost 5 lbs!! I think having motivation from eachother will push us so we look hot and sexy in our dresses!!!
Anything else???
Aw I'd do weigh-in with you all but I promised my sis I'd do it with her--we already started a bit ago! I'll keep you all informed (and hopefully you'll keep me motivated) with my progress though!
i'll totally do it! i've been looking for exactly this!
'll report back on what i've done and if any inches have come off.... (but no WAY am i posting my weight and measurements on the worldwide web! is anyone doing that?)
so.... we report back here on Sunday?
i've been exercising every day: alternating yoga, a two-mile jog, and the "Wedding Workout" video from Women's Health magazine.
i haven't weighed myself in literally years. so i'll focus on inches. okay?
and, i need my butt whooped for the bad food habits i have! maybe writing down my progress here for the last few weeks will help me quit eating mashed potatoes every night.
I've never seen the "wedding workout" dvd. what is it? any good?
Yeah, lets just post if we've lost weight and where we loose inches
it's from Women's Health magazine. It's a DVD with a couple different elements that you can mix and match -- or you can just do the pre-programmed workouts (for upper body -- "Strapless dress workout" -- or for lower body -- "mermaid or short dress workout"). The wedding element is really little more than a gimmick. It's basically a perfectly nice, not-too-obnoxious -- normal -- workout. You can find it on Amazon.com .
Hiya, got back from the gym. My trainer measured me and said I've lost about an inch on my waist. YAY. I'll get some hard numbers after my session on Monday where he'll do a full body assessment.
I wanna join too. I have about 100 days left but am kinda unmotivated. I also am around 135 and used to be 115 (ah those were the days!) Anything to help me out would be great. What is our plan?
I'm in! Sunnygal we have the same wedding date!! Yay for twins!
I've been doing really well on my journey, I've lost about 10 pounds in the last 5 months and I'm looking for 5-10 more (would be happy with 5, psyched with 10) by the wedding! I also did my measurements a bit ago but I haven't checked back in.
Good luck ladies.
stlginkgo- YEAH!!!! see above :)
I've been really counting my calories, doing intense cardio 5 days a week and taking a lifting class 3 times a week. So far, in 2.5 weeks I've lost 5 lbs (I don't loose weight easily AT ALL) but I think whats more important is i've lost inches. Today being friday I was about ready to call it a day after work, but pushed myself to the gym. Was going to do a lifting and spinning class, except the lifting teacher didn't show up. So i did 30 min on the moving stair machine (anyone else do this machine?? It is a KILLER!) then lifted some weights and did 4 sets of 25 pushups and 25 situps then went to a spinning class. After all that my heart rate monitor said I had burned just over 900 calories. Being the strange gal that I am, I don't like when its not to the next round number so i jumped on the treadmill and ran until I hit a 1000 burned! FELT AWESOME!!! Most importantly what i've been reading is not only working out, but that you are eating correctly as well. I'm a woman on a mission! Lets do this ladies!!!!
I would love to join!! My wedding isn't until July, but I am starting to train for the LA Marathon in March by doing the lazy approach... only doing the long group runs on Saturdays and not working out at all, drinking wine, etc during the middle of the week. My next Saturday run is 14 miles and after thinking 12 was so tough last week, I'm afraid if I don't get my act together, I'm not going to be able to finish!!
I would love to join a weight loss/ exercise challenge. I'm 129 lbs and would like to be more toned and down to 120 by next March (when my dress fittings begin)
Don't forget...tomorrow is weigh in and measuring . Like sleepylittle sailor said, you don't have to post. Just post if you've lost weight or inches!
I put a sign on my fridge
EAT HEALTHY, SMALL PORTIONS, GO WORKOUT, NO EXCUSES!!! i think it helps when i'm headin deep in the fridge for some raiding :)
Count me in as one of your weight loss buddies. I joined the gym at work on Thursday and I am ready to go (I think), although I have been pigging out on red beans and rice this week-end. I need to fit my tape and take measurements tomorrow. Monday is the start of this challenge for me.
Wonderful Chocolate!! I'm looking to loose weight by your wedding date (thats my final fitting) Yeah HOT BRIDES!!!
I'm IN!!!
I just started the 30 day shred today (and ran 2.5 miles). I am going to do the shred video everyday and a couple days a week I will run or do a class at the gym too. I am also making sure to drink TONS of water and eating healthy during the week (with the exception of Friday dinner...I'm going to allow myself to have whatever I want):
Breakfast: egg whites
Lunch: sandwhich on whole wheat bread
Snack: banana
Dinner: grilled chicken and some sort of potato
(and I'm allowing myself to have 2 small pieces of chocolate a day so that I don't go crazy!!) I want to lose 10-15 lbs and be in the best shape of my life by May! I'm glad that I have you ladies to keep me motivated.
futuredrbraun - i'm doing my eating schedule pretty similar to yours. Although a lot of times i'll workout and lift in the morning so I'll go to tropical smoothie and get fruit mixed with whey protein (210 calories). I'm TRYING (man is it hard!!!) to not eat carbs after lunch.
My goal is to do at least 2+ hrs of working out 5 days a week. Do the lifting class, or lifht weights, 3 times a week. EVERY day no matter what do 25 pushups and 25 situps - no matter how busy i am, I can fit that in and pushups do wonders for arms, back, and core.
I am going to start P90X next week monday. Has anyone done that?
Do you guys calorie count? I just was reading Jillian Michaels book on how many calories you should consume a day based on weight, age, and height and I felt like it was high. How many calories do you consume a day if you calorie count?
Sunnygal, my event (renewal of vows) is next year 2010, not this year. But don't worry, November 27, 2009 is a good timeline for a January bride. I do try to count my calories. When I am really serious and committed about weight loss, I try to stay between 900 and 1200 calories per day.
Sunnygal -- I started P90X and lasted about 1 month on it. It is tough but I enjoyed it. The reason I stopped was because I went on a trip, and never got back into my routine (lame but true!)
I officially start my plan this Sun. I will post weight and measurements (If I'm not held accountable I won't do it!) Here is my plan:
eat bfast with protien
with lunch include something green
@dinner fill up with salad first
My main goal is to cut back. I will eat half as much as I want to, and I will drink at least 3 Nalgene bottles of ice water a day, including weekends!
Day 1 (start day) weight 132.8 lbs
exersized with my puppy 30 minutes
had spinach with my lunch
done with Nalgene bottle 1!
I'm feeling really good!! I lost 2 lbs this week just by eating better :) I started my workout program yesterday so hopefully my healthy eating combined with working out will make the weight just fall off!! I also feel like I more energy which is a plus!
Start weight: 119.8 lbs
Today: 117.8 lbs
Long term goal (May 15th): 105 lbs
Short term goal (Jan 1st): 110 lbs
Shorter term goal (Oct 16): 115 lbs
futuredrbraun - nice work!
Goal: 20 lbs to loose
Lbs lost so far: 6 (I started my diet 3 weeks ago)
Lbs to go: 14
Starting P90X tomorrow as well. I am going to try to incorporate this into my current workout plan. I'll keep you posted on the progress
@sunnygal - WOW... 6 lbs is awesome!!! You are definitely going to make it to your goal by the time Jan. rolls around :) Let us know how the P90X goes!
@futuredrbraun - Thanks!
ya know, I always have worked out so it wasn't a problem there. I wasn't eating "bad" but not great either. Finally 3 weeks ago i put myself in check. I have been in this endless cycle of wanting to loose weight for a while. I thought, enough is enough Im going to do this. So I began counting calories, measuring portions and really watching everything I ate. I wasn't eating bad before, but eating WAY too much. I feel like I wasn't really paying attention to what was going in my mouth. I was eating a yogurt somedays in the morning, thinking thats healthy right? Till i saw a Dr.OZ show and he said you should have 25g of sugar a day. Well I looked at the back of the yogurt in the fridge, the LIGHT yogurt had 14g of sugar, and the reg had 27!!! I was SHOCKED. So i'm stepping up the working out and really watching what i eat.
Found this website, not sure if anyone would find this helpful but i think i may use it, we'll see www.myfitnesspal.com
Thank you ladies! This thread is just what I need. I'd been doing great on Weight Watchers, but with work hours and busy summer hols, I've not been for 2 nearly 3 months. I bit the bullet and went yesterday. Guess what- I've put on weight! 9lbs to be precise. I had lost 23lb and have put nearly half of it back on.
I am so disgusted with myself. I also nearly cried as a woman who joined at the same time as me got to goal weight and was singing and dancing. I was so cross and disappointed with myself as I should have been dancing and singing, but instead I am not going to have to loose that weight all over again.
In the WW class we were talking about non-scale victories, trying to avoid just being fixated on weights and looking at other changes associated with weight loss. We were talking about getting into smaller sized clothes, being able to walk for miles without feeling tired. It was really motivating.
I have decided that when I get to goal I am going to have some boudoir pictures done for DF for our wedding day.
@joeyemma: I know it sucks to see that you are up on weight, but, you know what, today is a new day. There is only one way to get where you want. Sometimes it sucks, but just think how great it will feel when you get to your goal. Futuredrbrauan and myself check in with eachother midweek to just keep eachother on track, if you would like to you can too!
A lot of gals have written things that have helped them and keep them on track.
You can do it!!!!!
JoeyEmma - that's awesome that you are still down 14 lbs...I'm sure that it won't take long to take off those 9 lbs + some!! Just keep your goal in mind thoughout the week!!
AND, totally feel free to check in with sunnygal and I midweek...I know that I start to lose my motivation after a couple of days of hardcore working out and dieting so it helps to have the accountability :) We are here for you!!!
So my FI is military has been gone for 5 weeks and just got home friday night. I was really worried cause a lot of times we'll go out and bbq and all that stuff. I told him he needs to help me and keep me on track. He has been great, he made jalapeano poppers last night watching football, and I had one and was like..oooo those were good I really want another one, and he talked to me and said no, hes helping me and i don't need it. I sat back grabbed my water, and then gave him a kiss and thanked him. I woke up this morning to him making me a eggwhite omlet and bringing it to me in bed and telling me he made it with just veggies and a tiny pinch of cheese. God, I love that man! I don't know if you guys live with your FI or not, but I think it really helps to have them help you too, when you want that cookie or chip for them to help you say no.
@futuredrbruan: I'm ready! I don't think i lost weight this week but i definitly feel like i lost inches. I put on my jeans yesterday and they were super loose!
Sunnygal- I love jalapeno poppers. I couldn't stop at one. Good self restraint.
joeyemma - ha! me too! believe me if FI wasn't there I prob would have ate 10
alright... i'm off to drink tons of water, go pull some weeds and burn some calories in hot yoga!
Have a good day ladies!
