Just heard this on NPR this morning, and it sounded interesting. http://www.stickk.com allows you to make a contract with yourself, a bet if you will, to attain a certain goal, e.g. losing weight. You put some money down; if you don’t lose X amount of weight in X amount of time, you lose your money…to a charity as I understand. The main idea is that people will work harder to avoid losing money than they will to gain it, and then this is applied goals. You want to try to be reasonable with your betting and weight loss goal.
Hope this could help someone who might need the extra motivation.

I just signed up for the stickk site and it looks pretty cool. I have one going that is just for me and my girlfriends and I are going to do another one with money – the person who does the best will get the kitty – and I think it will be fun!
On another thread or blog someone mentioned the hundred push ups site (http://hundredpushups.com/index.html) and my girlfriends and I are going to do that and use at as part of our bet.
Anything to help us look good for the wedding, righ??

Haha, what a great idea. I would have to put down major money. I have lost money with my gym membership in the past and have a gorgeous road bike collecting dust (yes, it is winter!).

I just started a new commitment almost a week ago. I did it one time before, but didn’t put any money on the line. This time I put $5/week, and that should motivate me to stick to my workouts and eat better. 🙂
