Hello Beautiful Bees 🙂
So in the spirits of all this wedding planning- my fiance and I started a “better” eating plan to stay in shape within this next year. Don’t get me wrong, we weren’t eating bad before, however there is always room for improvement. He started seeing a trainer and I…well I basically kept my same routine. However, I have been in a workout “rut” the past summer. I cheered all through HS and College and after that I earned my personal trainers license and taught boot camps and private training on the side. I have always worked out and mixed up my work outs however I was becoming very bored of the whole cardio/ light weight training. Being a former gymnast/ cheerleader, there were always new moves, skills that I had to achieve so the pace never stopped. However now that I don’t have any type of goals except to stay in shape- I got really sick of working out. I needed something to excite me. Then like magic to my e-mail- I received a groupon for POLE DANCING classes!!! AHHH…feeling guilty but yet exhillierated, I purchased 3 class and began a double life to a whole new side of me.
My first class- I felt completely stupid! I had the strength to pull myself up and twist, split, acrobat my way through it…However the grace and strength it took to be so poised and seductive at the same time amazed me. I was in no way being “sexy” what so ever as I was attempting to spin (fall) around the pole. (And killed my muscles too) I felt born again with my workouts. There was such a variety of amazing women (from soccer moms to tattoo artists) participating in this class, I truly felt reborn as a woman! The work-outs were challenging and once again I had new skills to tackle. I’ve learned a lot through these classes (not only in fitness) but how important confidence is as a woman. We carry ourselves everyday and night as these feminine symbols in this world, but never stop to look at ourselves and believe how beautiful and feminine we TRULY are. These classes really made me realize how wisely crafted the female body is. Our curves are there for a reason and we should embrace their lines.
I didn’t tell my fiance at first that I started taking these classes. However he told me that he loved the new confidence I gained with my body not only because I felt bolder with him- but he loved how I started to look at myself. I think a lot of us are so judgmental to these type of workouts and environments because we know so little about it. Now I am not saying that we should all turn into strippers because I have never even stepped foot into a stripclub. However, I do think every woman needs to try something new that pushes her to the edge and makes her FEEL like a woman. Now that my fiance does know that I take these classes (2x a week thank you very much!) he is crazy about the idea. It completely has given us a new spark. It is a lot harder, and more exciting than any spin, pilates, yoga, boot camp I have EVER taken. And I have seriously been through every type of fitness class there is! Anyways- food for thought, just wanted to share my new found passion with you ladies. Honestly I don’t really go around my family and ramble on about my pole dancing classes so at least I have you Bee’s to gloat too 🙂
What are your thoughts???!!!
