My FI just asked me to check our Netflix queue and order some comedies. I have a tendency to pick out rather dark dramas and a lot of indie films. Even when I don't think that's the type of movie it will be, it turns out that way sometimes. I'm just drawn to these off-beat movies. Even the comedies are usually dark. He really wants a good, funny movie! Can you bees help me with some good recs for comedies? We haven't seen many of the movies that have come out in the last year or two.

I'm a Netflix freak because we don't have cable.  Some that come to mind (by looking at my past Netflix viewing activity):

    Knocked Up

    Superbad

    The House Bunny

    Spring Breakdown

    Forgetting Sarah Marshall

    Role Models

Zack and Miri Make a Porno

Superbad (our number one movie..makes us almost cry every time & we love mclovin and the cops)

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (so funny..you wish each cheating ex would get the same "present" from the one they cheated with!)

    Stripes (just because)

Heartbreak Kid (so funny it will make you cry too..and be scared if you get stung by a jellyfish)

Old School (Blue..Oh blue..why'd they take you blue?  Dust n the wind.  Sniff Sniff)

    Thanks!

I love Superbad, too! I just put it in the queue even though we've seen it before. I haven't seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall, so I added that. If I make him watch Wedding Crashers or Old School one more time, he'll flip. I love those, too. I think I've watched those like 20 times.

Oh yeah, I added I Love You, Man, too.

Did anyone see Bride Wars? I would never pay to see it at the theater, but is it worth a rental?

Seriously get the Heartbreak Kid.  It's got Ben Stiller in it and it's so damn funny.  We love that movie!

I wouldn't watch Bride Wars with him.  T did watch that with me, but I didn't think it was terribly funny.  It ws funny at times though.

The whole Heartbreak Kid movie made me laugh. All of it.

Thanks, Bellenga! I added it. I have now added 9 comedies and a steamy foreign film to the top of our queue. That should make him happy. No dark indie films for a while:-)

And there's a tip towards the end of the movie too!  How to save somebody from a severe jellyfish sting!!! Just remember to see your salon first before performing such a life-saving maneuver!

It's seriously one of T and I's faves.  It's like a train wreck you love to see coming..and you watch it again and again and giggle like mad.

No wait..we do that with Superbad too!

StepBrothers!!!!! I normally hate Will Ferrell and that one is my favorite comedy now. What's that say about it?

I always have trouble picking stuff for FI too...I tend to go for Monty Python & the Holy Grail type humor...

hotchildinthecity listed all of the good ones!

I totally had a Back to the Future marathon the other day as I was "studying," and those movies still crack me up.

You can always go for classics.

Blazing Saddle - that I can watch for years and still find new things to laugh at.

    Super Troopers

One that D always made me watch was Hey dude, Where's my car at.

I always like witty comedies, not so much slapstick so I do stuff like American President, Monty Python and Rat Race.
