Does your husband already live there? I moved across the country with my husband 2 years ago and finding a job was pretty tough. Good luck and welcome to the South!
I don't live in Tennessee but I did just move across the country with my husband. The nature of his job makes it so we may be moving again in January so I didn't want to get a job unless I knew we'd be here a while. When we get a second car though (hopefully around the beginning to mid-September) I'm going to volunteer to meet people as well as have something to do so that's an idea.
Join Meetup groups to find other people with your interests! I made several friends through a Meetup group in Nashville.
I live in Nashville and there are a ton of ways to meet people. There are all kinds of meet up groups and social clubs. Get involved in your local Chamber of Commerce, I know Nashville has a young professionals group and also if you're around Clarksville there will be A LOT of families there new to the area due to Ft Campbell so check in that area, too. Welcome to Tennessee!
when we moved to TN I met people by volunteering for local charities and book club. I knew I would find like minded people through volunteering and I love to read so it just made sense.

If either of you like to play sports there are a ton of church or city sponsored leagues for softball, kickball, and I'm sure more. Good luck with your move!
I completely understand! I live in Clarksville now actually, my husband got stationed at Ft. Campbell in Jan. 2010 so we've been here ever since :) I started school right away, met a few people there and met quite a few people through FRG. There's always tons of events going on for new people to the area. If you need anything, feel free to ask! Good luck!

Hey ladies Im moving to the Nashville/Clarksville area in a month and Im freaking out. Do you all have any suggestions as far as ways to meet people out there? I need a job, and some form of social activity. Ill be moving out there after my wedding and I want to have something going on for myself other than my husband.
