FH and I are moving out of our tiny apartment and into our first home together in March. We currently have two female cats at home (6 years old) who are sisters. My fiance owns a used bookstore where we have 2 other female cats who are not related but are happy cohabitating. After we move into our house FH would like to transfer the store cats to the houe as well for various reasons. It will definitely make them happier, we think!
We have never introduced adult cats before plus a move might be entirely too stressful. I just worry about my babies. Any tips or tricks to help ease the moving trauma?

Congrats on your first home!
Introducing cats gradually over a 2-week or so period is usually the best way to go. You start by keeping them seperated and introducing their smells to each other by toy-swapping, then feeding them at the same time in close proximity so they can smell each other while eating, then letting them see each other while eating. If you google it I’m sure you’ll find plenty of articles on the exact recommended progression. Also, if you have cable, Animal Planet has a show “My Cat From Hell”. About half of the episodes deal with reconciling 2 or more cats who don’t get along and the “cat behaviorist” on the show instructs owners on the protocol to re-introduce them. It’s very informative! Good luck!
