Weddingbee boards

As you may or may not recall, things have been up in the air for Mr.Rain and I. He has been trying to finish his thesis by August AND get a job lined up to start in August (in an economy that SUCKS). He had decided not to propose until he got a job. Now it is July and things have not been looking good. His thesis is lagging, he has no job lined up, and there is no ring on my finger.

this weekend Mr.Rain and I came to some conclusions. This is all very hush-hush, but I think I can trust you guys to keep my secret! Mr.Rain and I had a talk this weekend about how things are going. He has decided to go ahead and extend his thesis deadline to December. This will take some of the stress off, he can keep working for the University, and will buy us some more time to find a job. AND he said that regardless of what happens, we WILL get married in December!!

I am thrilled, but as my ring is still quite bare last night I took the opportunity to remind him that while I can do SOME stuff (i.e. mom and I are going to start dress shopping this month) there are plenty of details that require a ring and a date. He smiled, squeezed my hand and said he knows and that I shouldn't worry.

Next Sunday he meets my mom for the first time. He has already met everyone else. I am thinking the proposal may not be far behind!

And I am getting married in 6 months!

In a conversation with my Mr. yesterday I was told it would be "sooner rather than later"... he promised! Gah! And I thought it was hard to wait before! He also made me promise not to tell anyone but my mom that we have settled on December until after we are engaged. AND he made me promise not to tell my mom until AFTER they meet (this Sunday) but it's HARD! I want to tell EVERYone!

Here's a little happy update:

Today Mr.Rain confirmed that he has started ring shopping (I had my suspicions). He has a family friend who is a jeweler and is going to help him get the very best diamond for his dollar. He said I am going to be proud to wear that diamond for the rest of my life

I think he is worried about figuring out when to propose, though. I think we both had in mind that we'd be engaged no later than August since the wedding is going to be in December. However, his cousin is getting married at the end of August and we are going to be going to the wedding with his family. I think he is worried about taking attention away from her. I completely understand, but at the same time, my parents are in the states right now and will be leaving in less than 4 weeks. I would love to be able to celebrate our engagement with them in person! I have kind of told Mr. that, and I know he will keep it in mind. I would be content to take off my ring and be introduced as his gf at the wedding, and wait until a week or 2 later to tell his whole family. That would be okay, wouldn't it?

Finally, we actually started discussing dates. I favor the 12, and he said he might even be happy to do it as early as the 5th. I am waiting to hear back on availability for the chapel we want. We like it enough we might plan our date around their schedule.

Anyway, I am so happy! So excited to see these wheels in motion!

Thanks! I found my dress yesterday!

Tonight he is coming over to sit down and discuss what all is involved in wedding planning and decide some of what we want, but I think we are going to go with Blue (a deep blue, not tiffany blue), white, and silver/grey. The attendants will all be wearing black.
