Nope, but I just wanted to say congrats on his promotion, and double congrats on getting a job there as well!! I have never been to GA, but hear its beautiful :)
I went to college in Atlanta and know a ton of people who grew up in Alpharetta. It is a really nice area with fantastic schools. I don't know if you have little ones (or plan to in the future), but it is definitely a goodplace to raise a family.
It is also really close to Atlanta (its one of the closer suburbs) so you'd have really easy access to downtown and all of the ammenities of the big city.
I don't but am wondering where you live now? My ILS moved down south to be near the grandkids and it's a big lifestyle change from the North.
At least you will only be 30mins from Atlanta. They are about 2 hours SE of ATL and it is middle Georgia. It's different.....they are moving back north in a year or two now.
Congrats on the promotion for your husband and new job for you!
I have heard that housing in the suburbs of ATL are REALLY expensive. So much so that in their area 2 hours outside of ATL many people make the 2 hour commute.
Congrats! My brother and his wife and kids live in Alpharetta. They LOVE it there :) When I visited, it seemed like a very nice quiet place to live. Also as PP said, close to Atlanta!
Thanks for all the replies. We are coming from a small college town in IL called Carbondale so it will be a change but we are excited.
congrats!! I moved from the North (MI) to the South (LA) close to two years ago and I couldn't be happier!!
My uncle lived in a suburb of Atlanta and he too liked it very much. He always said how great it was to raise a family there but still be close to the city (like other posters have said)
I hope it all works out for you!
I've always lived within 30 miles of Atlanta, and I used to work up in Alpharetta. It is a great family area, and I think it would be a really nice place to live, especially if you work near by. I would say most people in Alpharetta do commute to Atlanta, so the housing prices are a bit higher. This sounds like such a great opportunity though! Congratulations to both you and your hubby.
Woo hoo!! Congrats! Housing prices are higher and taxes are higher because it's mostly in Fulton County. Check out some places in Cobb (great schools, but I'm partial
) for more affordable housing and taxes.
Some family just moved here and they thought they wanted to live in Alpharetta, but ended up going to a different county for better home prices.
Aw yay! My husband grew up in Alpharetta! He lived there from age 7 til he went to college. He loved living there and from what I know it is a great place to raise a family. Good schools, affordable houses, large housing communities. Congrats to you and your husband!

Hey Bees my Husband just found yesterday that the company he works for wants to give him a raise and move him to Alpharetta, GA where the companies headquarters are located. They have also offered me a job in a different department, so finally after a year of looking I would get to have a full time job! I was just wondering if any of you ladies had any expierece living or visiting alpharetta and the area and what your thoughs were on it.
