- Wedding: September 2011
Recently, I’ve spent a lot of time (and money!) picking out wedding picture prints of various sizes for my wall and photo album. I purchased 1 20×30 print, 2 16x20s, and 200 4×6 prints from shutterfly, and several prints of various larger sizes from Mpix. I thought I would post my review of both considering I’ve spent an awful lot of time comparing the two!
Shutterfly was cheaper, but the quality was significantly worse than Mpix. Shutterfly’s prints looked like something the Walgreens photo desk would print while Mpix’s prints were what I would expect to receive from my photographer had I ordered my prints from her. The 20×30 sized print from Shutterfly was acceptable and I kept it. It was seriously inexpensive, too, at only $10. The 2 16×20’s were black and white, but for some reason, Shutterfly printed them with a really obvious purple tint that I cannot see when I look at the pictures on my computer. I returned those and reordered the same size of the same pictures from Mpix and there is no purple tint. The 4×6 photos from Shutterfly came out slightly blurry, but they were cheap and I ordered a lot so I didn’t return them as I knew it would be much more expensive to order the same amount from Mpix.
In sum, photos from Mpix are much, much better quality than Shutterfly and I will use them rather than Shutterfly in the future. They are more expensive, but worth it in my opinion.
