when i was taking one, and i plan to start taking it again, i was taking primacare one, which is a prenatal vitamin. my obgyn said she doesn't trust otc vitamins since they're not regulated by the fda, whereas prescription vitamins (like primacare one) are. it spoke to the hypochondriac in me. i plan to start taking them again to comply with the wb fitness challenge!
Ugh, I can't go to my doctor until I get back from the west coast. Hmm ... maybe I can call in for this one, should be simple enough. Thanks Bee!
I take the generic women's multivitamin from Target and it's not so bad as many of the other vitamins I've tried. I'm vegetarian, so it's super important that I take it every day.
I take one-a-day Women's formula (and Bf does, too!). We'd been taking the one-a-day maximum, but it gives us both a stomach ache (even if taken with lots of food), which I read is common with multivitamins. So we switched to the women's and so far so good. He's getting his share of extra calcium and folic acid too!
I take Ethex prenatal vitamins (prescribed). The only way I can wolf down those honkin pills is to take them with milk (which forces me to take another pill - lactaid!!)
I take the CVS brand multi, called Spectravite.
I'm really, really inept at swallowing pills unless they're small, so lucky for me, my multis come in a chewable variety.
Oooh. I like chewable!!
Silly big horse pills -- looks like that seems to be the norm.
Thanks!
I've been thinking about this one since last night HR. Many of the randomized controlled trials have been done with Centrum, so I feel pretty comfortable recommending those. Flinstones (not so ironically considering I'm a pediatrician) is another that I feel incredibly comfortable with...
I don't actually take a multi-vitamin. I know I probably should, but I take individual components instead... crazy right? I take B12, Vit C, Fish Oil, Folic Acid, calcium and Vitamin E. I've also been charting most of what I eat on Fit Day, so I know when I'm low on something. Then I work on adding the right foods to my diet. I know that this take too long for most people, but I can't help but think that there are a lot of components of vitamins that my body is just wasting.
It's funny you say that because a lot of my friends in college used to take flinstones! I thought they were only for kids and used to make fun of them, but I'm sure it wouldnt hurt me right? And they taste like candy!
I can't trust myself to take all those individual components, I know I would forget or confuse them or whatnot.
Thanks ladies!
Laugh if you want, but I take two gummy vitamins a day! hah I always saw kids vitamins like that and thought that was so cool. Then I saw the ones for adults and got them. They are a nice morning treat with breakfast, and they haven't made me sick like other vitamins have in the past.
I take Centrum woman's formula. And take it with a little yogurt. I'm sensitive to iron and that can sometimes make me a little green.
i used to take the trader joes multivitamin for women but i stopped because i hated swallowing that huge pill. i think im going to start up again, though.
i work in public health and in school, we read a few studies about vitamins and whether they are actually beneficial to health. there is not a lot of evidence that they make a difference in overall health since the body absorbs such a small percentage of them and in a different way than vitamins from actual food. so they have a saying - "be the KIND OF PERSON who takes vitamins" since people who pay more attention to their overall health and wellness through nutrition and exercise tend to take vitamins more so than the other way around, and making the conscious decision to take a daily vit usually causes people to pay even more attention to their other health behaviors.
anyway, just thought id ramble a bit...i love health LOL!
i've been taking Centrum Performance! it really has helped me! my only problem is that it's a HUGE pill...
i take the trader joe's multivitamin. even though it's a big pill, i don't feel sick from it like i have with others.

What multi-vitamin do you all take?
I know I should be taking one but I can't stand the taste and the size of the multivitamin I have to take -- it's like a horse pill!!
Thanks!
