All right, encores and more "mature" brides out there. There are plenty of music posts on the regular boards. I can keep up with them mostly because of my kids, LOL, though I will admit I have to look up some of them on youtube. Some I like, some are not me, just as with all music. But now nostalgia has me wanting to hear what songs you will choose as an encore/more mature bride. Modern, or old school?

    Your song...

    First dance...

And, if you are walking down an aisle to music, what's your choice?

    Signed,

    A curious bee :)

Bridal processional:  La Rejouissance (Music For the Royal Fireworks) - Handel

First dance:  Dance Me to the End of Love - Leonard Cohen

And all those young whipper-snappers had to put up with it!  Wink

Well I have to say that I am not coming down the aisle to "here comes the bride".  Nope, not even close.

Since we're marrying in a historic church, it has to be a classical piece or a religious choice and they have a booming pipe organ.  I love it, but am leaning towards having a harp and my song I've chosen far is Clair de Lune by Debussy .

Our first dance songs aren't picked yet, but some of my favorites are:  "Sea of Love" by Robert Plant & the Honeydrippers, and  "You and Me" by Dave Matthews (both perfect for the encore seaside wedding!).  We are leaning towards the Dave song.

I came down the aisle to Pachelbel's Canon in D.  First dance was Ryan Adams - When Stars Go Blue

Ha I'm 24 and 90% of the songs at my wedding weren't popular in my lifetime!

You can't go wrong though with a great classic.

I absolutely love Clair de Lune now..I've listened to it quite a bit and am really really happy with it.

Hey there curious bee! ;) I don't have kids and can't keep up with those other music boards what-so-ever, so you're in a better spot than me! Wink

I am walking down the isle to The Wedding Song (There is Love) by Peter Stookey - it's a classic and beautiful song. Not sure what the recessional song is yet, but something fun. It's a very small, 16 guest, wedding.

I'd love to hear more about what other encore, mature brides are doing music wise for their cermony!
