I need help on this... I've been writing and rewriting a playlist for months!

It seems every song I or Mr. Holiday likes, is kind of dark.  I'm trying to come up with fun songs for the reception that are a little more "romantic" and I'm just failing!

What should I do? Should we just say "puck it" and go with what we like...what is that going to do to the reception?

The dance floor is in another room (club room) we are making it like a night club in one end of the venue and it's going to be awesome but I can't get my head wrapped around the darn music!

Is it ok to have somewhat "depressing" lyrics?  One of the songs i'm obsessed with right now is "Just Breathe" by Pearl Jam but that is not a very uplifting song when you listen to the lyrics! His is Cupid Shuffle lol not sure why and he isn't either.

We <3 Alternative and rock and not really into the shuppy stuff unless it's like Etta James (which we will have that type of music for the first hour)

    HELP!

I think that for dance music it won't matter as much. I think that people don't always pay attention to the lyrics and just like good music! Case in point -- Bruce Springsteen's Glory Days is like THE informal high school reunion ballad where I am from, and if you know the words, you realize that he is not actually glorifying those days, but rather commenting on how it is kind of pathetic that some people never get past that point in their lives... So, yeah, I wouldn't assume that people will automatically realize they are "dark" songs unless they are all really familiar with the music.

And if someone notices the discrepancy between happy time and sad lyrics, just laugh it off because really what's the big deal? Not like it's a bad omen for your marriage! Go with music you like. :)
