So, I am a cantor at my church. Have been for a billion years. As such, I’m kinda taking advantage and doing some music we don’t typically do. Our music director was excited about everything we put together. Since I sing weddings all the time, I know how it typically works. The director sends the music list to the musicians and we work on it on our own time. Now, my wedding is 10 days away and today I got an email from my cantor asking me what the music is for our wedding. He has the processional music because he was standing by me while I printed it out and I handed it to him, but I’m pretty sure that no one else knows what we’re doing and I’m pretty sure 3 of the pieces are new to them. So I fired off a frantic email this morning with the music list. Swell. And it’s Holy Week. We all have loads of time to be preparing new music!!!
I guess I figured since I put in so much work with the music liturgy our music director would make my life easier, and she figured since I sing there I’d just handle it myself. I’m sure they’ll pull it off fine – I picked the best musicians of course , but Music Liturgy FAIL!
Okay, I feel better now. Thanks for listening.

It will be okay! I’m sure since they are people you know, they are going to put in the extra effort to practice even if this is a busy time.
And would you mind sharing your musical choices? I would love to know!

Gladly! My family is full of church musicians so we have a congregational hymn for the recessional. We aren’t having a full mass.
Prelude 1: “Wherever You Go” David Haas (It’s on You Tube, but I don’t like the voice of the guy who sings it)
Prelude 2: “How Great Thou Art” Piano and Violin (this is in honor of my grandfather)
Processional: “No Greater Love” Danielle Rose
Psalm: “This is the Day” Fisher
Acclamation: “Alleluia, Give the Glory”
Recessional. “City of God”
