I would so love to put the Electric Slide, Macarena, YMCA, Personal Jesus, and especially the Hokey Pokey and the Chicken Dance on the do not play list, but I know a lot of family members would miss them.  Annoying or not, those get the people out on the dance floor.

Haha “ABC” is on my must-play list!

I’d have to say “Love Shack,” “Electric Slide,” “Cha-cha Slide,” “Chicken Dance.”

Oh, and all country music…  Just not a fan.  Love bluegrass though 🙂

Okay, this is totally random, but the one song I did not think to put on our do not play list because I never imagined any professional DJ would consider playing it was that “I’m Blue” song from like 10 years ago.  It came on and everyone was like WTF?!  My friends are still making fun of me for being the girl who played the blue song at her wedding!

My do not play list included Electric Slide, Come On Eileen, Goldigger, Brick House, Chicken Dance, YMCA, Ice Ice Baby.

FYI – Several of the songs I picked were on numerous do not play lists (Michael Jackson, Prince, Cha Cha Slide, Follow the Leader etc).  And they were the songs the most people danced to.  If you are looking at this post and going “OH MY GOSH I WANT TO HAVE THOSE SONGS” do not fret!

We did our own music, so I didn’t have a “do not play” list, but we both agreed we did not want the Macarena.  Despite the fact I went to a grade 5 “macarena” party where we had a Macarena dance competition.  Hahaha!

Others that I think you might want to add include those that make you think about ex’s or how love sux.  You DO want to include songs that people will get out and dance to.  Even though the Macarena may be dreaded by many, a TON of people came out and danced to it (it was a recommendation by myself for our flowergirl who just learned it in cheer class).

Anything by Bon Jovi or Bruce Springsteen. Normally, I have nothing against those artists, but we really want our reception to be a dance party, not a rock concert.
