The zoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The zoo!  The zoo!  My husband and I were there last summer (just the 2 of us) and we absolutely loved it.  That and the Monterey Aquarium were the highlights of our trip.  I would also recommend staying on Shelter Island – we stayed at a great Best Western there that had a nice pool and was right on the marina.  Pizza Nova is the best pizza we’ve ever eaten.

Belmont park in mission beach. It’s like a mini amusement park complete with a wood roller coast built in 1925. (obviously it’s had a few face lifts).

Balboa park is GORGEOUS. Lots of old beautiful architecture, museums galore, and a giant koi pond smack dab in the middle.

Obviously the gaslamp quarter, which is in downtown SD. TONS of cool restuarants and bars. I’m not sure how into baseball you are, but Petco park is downtown too and tickets are fairly cheap.

There’s also Seaport Village which is in the bay Downtown. Lots of cute little shops and good food!

Coronado Beach! The sand has little golden glints in it. Just paradise.

I can’t say I much liked sea world, the polar bear seemed pretty sad there, the zoo was okay..

I stayed at the W Hotel which was Downtown, near little Italy and the Gaslamp quater, and both of these were great for food and bars! The hotel was really amazing, and had a complimentary car service which helped get to places (like coronado!)

Enjoy! I really loved it there.

Krispi:  haha i just asked this question last week on my facebook!

I got a lot of responses! Apart from sea world and the zoo – i really loved Old town!! It was adorable and really cool to walk around and shop in/ read the little historical facts about the town and buildings.

Gas Lamp district has great bars and night life!

We did the zoo on our honeymoon, so it was just us! We loved it. I recommend getting there at opening on a weekday. We went maybe 30 minutes after opening on a weekday, and the place was empty. It was awesome to not have the crowds (and no waits to see the pandas). We also got to see some of the animals being cared for, such as the elephants getting their feet groomed, which was interesting.

We also enjoyed just wandering around Balboa Park in general. There was a little cultural festival there that we ran into at world cottages, and it was fun to explore that and the surrounding area. A free tram can take you through the park.

Other than that, definitely check out La Jolla and Coronado!
