I would keep it short and sweet - no inside jokes, no "off-color" stories (even if they are kind of funny :-), etc. I would definitely practice before hand as well. I'm sure you'll do great!!
Good evening,
Today, we meet to celebrate two very special people,,,, Lori and me...,,, And billy too ;) For those of you who don't know my name is Jessica. I have known Lori since we were babies, and Let me just say, she looks stunning tonight... and Billy doesn't look too bad himself ;)
I am so happy and honored to be standing here today, It is one of those days Lori & I dreamed about as kids.
We always knew we'd be each others maid of honors, and here we are, within a matter of months apart, giving speeches at our weddings about our childhood memories and how excited we are to share these special moments.
When I began thinking about writing this speech I thought of so many wonderful, funny memories I could share...then I realized it's not a Roast..., just a Toast,, and maybe Lori doesn't want everybody to know how many times she's left a store looking for her car keys only to realize they were still in her RUNNING car ..so I'll just keep it nice :)
I can't remember many days Lori & I spent apart when we were little, or ever really. From babies to high school we lived on the same steet and were very close; she was like another sister, and her family was my second family.
We would play outside until dusk, ride our matching bikes, catch fireflies, build igloo's, and stay up late talking about our secret crushes.
We were inseperable.
In high school, Lori became the fastest texter anybody ever knew, and she drove a green ford taurus, or "the turtle." (Such a slick car for skipping school and 007 missions..). It was also in high school we met our future husbands. And although life happened and Lori & Billy spent some time apart, Lori would always say she knew Billy was "the one"
And it didn't take long before I knew she was certain.
Billy, you found yourself a beautiful, smart, and caring woman with a great heart and sense of humor; And I know you'll treat her right.
But I do hope you knew Lori was a package deal- b/c you're now stuck with me the rest of your life too ;)
I'd now like to propose a toast to my best friend and her husband;
May you always know happiness, joy, peace, understanding, respect, devotion, fidelity, faith, goodness, kindness and love.
May your days be filled with laughter and may your nights be filled with romance. May every day you spend together be even better than the last.
Congrats to you both!
aww - that was cute.
i loved how you threw in some humour and inside jokes but it wasn't overboard. like, the 'audience' won't be lost listening to you, and it'll get a laugh for sure.

Help! My best friend's wedding is in 10 days! I have known her since we were babies (and we haven't spent many days apart) but my mind is going blank! Should I just keep it short and sweet or try to rack my brain for something funny..? Any advice about giving matron of honor speeches or something that helped you is also appreciated! I'm no good at talking in front of a big crowd! :/
