FI moved to Houston last April and stayed in an extended stay hotel for the first month so he could get a feel for the area before picking out an apartment. The complex is only a couple years old so no major problems structuraly. We had a small problem with our AC leaking into our shower (not even sure how to explain it right) but they came right out and fixed it. We didn’t have any other problems afte that.
However, we went on vacation over Christmas and they called to tell us water was coming from our door so they went in and checked. Not sure what was leaking as they never told us and we never saw any damage. Anyway, fast-forward a couple weeks and we have to get our dryer cleaned because it wasn’t drying right, no big deal, that’s expected. We then had to get our kitchen floor replaced because the previous owner flooded it and the concrete underneath was starting to crack. Fine, no big deal. Well, we had noticed our hot-water pressure was lighter after Christmas but it wasn’t really anything to call about so I just dealt with it, until it was eventually so light it was taking 20+ minutes to do dinner dishes for 2 people. He came and fixed that and all was well.
Until this weekend. Sunday, we noticed our fridge leaking. Like a lot. So we called in an emergency repair and they came out, said it was clogged and unclogged it. Yay, thought we were done and everything was okay. Went to Costco and Target for groceries and didn’t think anything of it. Yesterday morning I open the freezer and notice it’s not as cold as it should be, my ice was melting. I freaked out (because that’s what I do haha) and called again. The guy came up and said there was still something clogged so he unclogged it again and went on his way. I went to lunch and was out for a couple hours, got back and had a nagging feeling something wasn’t right. Checked the freezer and my ice was liquid!! I called and a different guy came up and said oh, you have so much food, it’ll take a while to refreeze. I told him we just bought $200 worth of food and I don’t want it all going bad. He assured me it would be okay. I accepted it, because I know nothing about fridges/freezers. Well, this morning FI wakes up to discover our freezer and fridge are warm and so is all our food.
So now, we’re waiting on the guy to come and “fix” it again, and then I get to get on my broomstick and complain to the people in the front office to knock it off our rent so we can buy food for the next week. Ugh!!!
If you lasted this long congrats! I just needed to vent about the crappy service my apartment recently got.
