Oh my god, at the viewing!!!!! Your poor sister. She’s lucky you were there. I guess so is that aunt, who is going to get a smack someday, sounds like.

Today I just keep reading post after post about horrible adults!!! Sheesh!

@Laurenskii:  wow … So inappropriate! I’d be curious what she would consider a ‘proper’ thank you if a personalized thank you card was not enough??

I hate to say it, but some people do express greif differently.  They want to get angry at someone, and they will find a reason to be angry.  Even if it is petty, and definatly not the time or place for it.

Ok 2 things going on here

1. Everyone grieves differently, and I am guessing your aunt is just directing her grief out towards everyone rigt now.

2. Completely not the point of your post I know, but did your sister not write personalized cards-just a generic message?

I guess this could be chalked up to the fact that everyone grieves differently.. Still rude.

@KC-2722:  agreed.

I’d just let it go and chalk it up to a tense situation. Weddings and funerals tend to bring out the worst in people.

Everyone expresses grief differently so try not to judge.  It wasn’t the appropriate forum for that but I’m sure she’s just stressed with the loss.  As an aside though, appropriate forum or not, your sister should have written more then a generic thank you. But that’s besides the point. I get a little miffed myself when I spend time and money going to an event and the person can’t make the 5 minute effort to write a decent thank you card.

@Laurenskii:  What a hot mess. Is this your grandmother’s sister? If it is, I’m guessing she knows her sister better than anyone so she’s probably able to let it roll off of her back. As for you and your sister…the mature thing to do would be to just make crazy faces at her and pretend like you can’t hear or understand what she’s saying…lots of “hunh?” “I’m sorry, what?” “pardon me?” “hmmm?” “excuse me?” Then when she repeats herself a dozen times, say….”gee Auntie, you’re making less sense as you age…I hope I don’t have to admit you into the senior facility where I work” then…ignore her for the rest of the day.
