One of my aunts (my dad's brother's wife) has always lived far away from me. I recently moved closer to a lot of people in my family, so now, even though I live even further away from her, I see her more often. She Facebooked me today and said she'd like to take me to lunch tomorrow to get to know me better. I am kind of freaked out--not because I don't like her or anything, but because I am an incompetent conversationalist and socially awkward. I have gotten better since I started having jobs, but I am still pretty bad. It just takes me a long time for me to get to know someone, and the other person usually ends up doing all the work because I don't know how/am afraid to. Also, trying to have a conversation while eating is awkward to me.
I would like to get to know a lot of my family better, and especially her because she got married at 19 and I will be just shy of 21 when I get married, so she's probably one of the only ones who will understand my choice. But I'm still kind of dreading tomorrow, and I feel bad that I am, since she's driving 2 1/2 hours each way AND taking me to lunch. :/ Are there any other super socially awkward Bees?
