This story breaks my heart…. oh lord that is horrible. I think I would be contemplating divorce as well but she is in a SUPER emotionally charged situation right now and it would be very difficult to think clearly.

My God, this would be so hard to go through… I can’t even think about it or I will just break down….

@ChicoryCreek:  Oh, how terrible. I’m so sorry. (FYI, at 8.5 months I think this is considered a stillbirth, not a miscarriage. I could be wrong, though.)

This is so sad I can’t even believe it 🙁 what would cause such a late miscarriage??  I have heard of this before but wow 🙁

Is the husband very Jewish?  If so, he’s not just crazy or a jerk or something like that ….  My father would be very disapproving if I had a baby shower or baby things in the house before the birth.  He’s very traditional and the closest way to explain it is that it’s like counting the chickens before they hatch.  If this is the way the husband believes I could totally see it causing a lot of discord in their marriage.

@ChicoryCreek:  Technically, stillbirth is anything after 28 weeks.

Regardless of the terminology, I feel so terrible for your friend! That must be absolutely devastating.

@ChicoryCreek:  How incredibly sad.  Ugh, how devastating for the whole family.  After having difficulties and making it that far, I’m sure they’d feel like they were in the clear and like everything would be okay finally.  GAH so sad.  I hope they can lean on each other and put grievances aside during this painful period 🙁 they need each other right now even if the marriage has been tense lately.

@ChicoryCreek:  i’m so sorry – that is truly tragic. this also happened in my family, a family member was actually a bit overdue, went in to have a last checkup and made an appt to be induced two days later – when she arrived for the induction the baby was stillborn.

that was her first pregnancy and she and her husband are now the parents of two little girls – i hope that your friend’s sister has a similar outcome in the future.
