Awwww honey, I'm so sorry! It's always hard when a pet dies. Lots of love!
Thanks *hugs*
I feel so crap today.... i just wanna cry but it's being at the front desk and all... so i have a lump in my throat :(
I feel silly saying this but i feel really upset for Claw his girlfriend because ever since we got them which was over a year ago now they have been trying to have babies but the egg's always were infertile.... it's like she's lost her partner and i think how much it would hurt me if i lost my partner :(
Aw, I'm so sorry, for you and little Claw. The loss of a pet is always so hard and having to do everyday things like go to work when you're heartbroken makes it even harder. Hugs
I just got an email from my partner telling me that he has put Claw back in with the other birds (we had taken smudge and claw out and put them both in the "hospital" cage) and he said Claw is very loudly still calling out to him *cries*
Oh why can't today end...... one thing cheered me up... the new cafe downstairs gave me a free milkshake :)
RIP Smudge and hugs to Claw and to you!
Call your avian vet asap! See if they have any advice on how to console her or if she could ever accept a new mate.
I'm a bird person too..this is my guy, Elvis. He's a one man show though. Hugs to you. Birds are so intelligent and yes, animals DO have emotions! I'm a huge fan of Jane Goodall who imho, proved that and more.
God rest his little feathered soul.
Sad Day! I'm so sorry about Smudge. What a great name for who I'm sure was a great bird!
Awe, sorry to hear about your little winged friend- losing a pet is always so difficult, it's amazing the bonds we can form with other species.
I am so so so sorry :( I know how hard it is losing a pet. He's flying around heaven now... I'm sure of it!
Smudge and Claw are very similar in the way they look but Smudge... the front part of his chest looked like the patterns were Smudged :) and Craig named Claw... her name was going to be bird... but i told him it had to be a better name than bird.
I feel like telling you ALL the names now (oh they are Finches) we've had 2 other deaths but smudge was mine, unlike the rest who still mean alot to me they are more Craig's then they are mine... plus smudge and claw were the pair they we bought that start our love for finches.
after them we got Snowflake (he was all white) and the brown one who Craig named.... Dingus! LOL They were Zebra finches
Then we bought baby gouldians :)
Buzz and Peach
BlueBoy and Scarlett
Twinkle Toes and Minnie
I love these names, they're adorable, and the fact that you love birds. I'm so sorry that you lost Smudge! I know that I couldn't focus on anything after I lost my cat, and so many people didn't sympathize at all. Well the bees do and we're here for you!
oh i forgot Cookie and Squidwid
Yeah i told someone at work today because they asked what was wrong, they responded with "it's just a finch, just buy another one" i told them to F-off... LOL i think people knew i was upset today because they didn't speak to me much... but how dare that person tell me to buy another one... yeah like thats going to help!!
Big hugs. Non-pet owners really don't get it when a pet dies so just ignore them. They have no idea how much of an impact Smudge had with your life so they have no reason to judge.
I agree 100% with littlemissmoo - a lot of people who don't own pets just don't understand. And even those who do, if they have a more "traditional" pet (i.e. dog or cat), might not understand how big of an impact the loss of a bird can have. Shoot - I used to get upset when my old roommate's fish would die.
I'm so sorry.
Thank you all for your support!
Poor little Claw is still calling out to him and looking for him, it's so sad
Hugs to you!! You are clearly such a sweet, loving mom to your bird babies. How blessed Smudge was to have you in his life! I am a firm believer that all God's innocent creatures go to be with him when their time on earth is through, so I hope it comforts you to think about your little angel flying in heaven where he must be so very happy!
I lost my puppy to a coyote about a year and a half ago after losing a rabbit unexpectedly a few months prior, and ever since then animal tragedies really tug at my heartstrings. :( Keep finding those positive things throughout your day to help you through! <3
I'm so sorry for you, and for Claw. Bee hugs! You're love for your animals is truly commendable. It so sad that most just don't live as long as we do. They do add so much to our lives while they are around though.
Poor birdie :( I'm sorry for your loss!!
I had birds when i was little (parakeets) just one at a time. My first bird's name was Rusty & I LOVED that parakeet. When I was home, I spent the majority of my time next to his cage talking to him & saying things to him over & over again. I taught him how to say "rusty bird, pretty bird!" LOL. Seriously! A parakeet :) Anyways, I love birds & I was devastated when he died. We did get a replacement though (it was the only way my little 9 year old self could 'deal' with it) and the replacement looked just like him. I named him Rusty the 2nd LOL.
I'm so sorry for your loss! I had to put my little ferret, Sophie, to sleep last month. Even though she was suffering and now she's not, it's still SO HARD to say goodbye to our sweet animal friends.
Sending you major hugs!

My Bird , Smudge, passed away early hours of the morning *cries*
My poor little finch *cries* I'm so upset right now... i don't even wanna be at work
I got up this morning, knowing that he might not have made it through the night.... i went downstairs and before i even got into the room where their cage is i could hear Claw (his Mate) chirpping very loudly *cries* when i got to the cage he was on the bottom and she was on the lowest branch looking at him and chirpping as if to be saying "please get up... wake up please" i just burst into tears...Great way to start the day.
I was in tears last night because i could tell he was in pain.... at least he is in no more pain now
RIP my sweet little Smudge
