I am a dog mom and this just terrifies and infuriates me all at once.
A Fort Worth couple has filed a $1 million lawsuit against the vet who kept their dog Sid secretly alive for six months after he was supposed to have been euthanized… Six months later, the couple was tipped off by a vet tech at Tierce’s clinic that Sid was being kept alive, caged in deplorable conditions and being used for blood donations.

I hope this guy gets locked away!!

That’s really awful…
Do people really just send off their pets to be put down though? I can’t imagine not staying with my dog until the end.

howtobeawife: This has to be one of the worst things I have ever heard in my life. Just the thought of my baby (yes, I call my dog baby) going through this makes my blood boil and tears come to my eyes. How could anyone do this to an animal?! I am happy to hear that they got him back but the trauma that this poor dog endured for 6 months AND his owners brought him there. I don’t know if dogs are able to reason, but he must have felt so abandoned by those he loved. It just makes my heart hurt for this poor animal and those poor owners. When they day comes that I will have to make the decision to put down my dog, I will be holding him until his last breath.

I’m in shock… We trust our vet 100% when it comes to our cats and this is one field where I really feel like you should never have to feel doubt. This’s just such a terrifying, sad, story and I can only agree with you, I hope his licence is suspended for life and that he will have to serve time.

I saw that, horrible! I too can’t imagine just leaving my babies behind to be euthanised, I would want to stay with them until the end. But the owners probably felt like they didn’t have a choice. I hope the vet gets much more severe punishment than just having to pay compensation!

This is HORRIBLE. I am so upset over this, it literally made me cry at my desk at work. To many of us, including myself, our animals are our CHILDREN. This vet has a special place in hell waiting for him.

howtobeawife: Ugh, I am sure there will be recourse against him, but nothing NEAR what is deserved. Personally, I am sick of the ‘slap on the hand’ given to any animal abusers, period. I know they are NOT human(s), but they are alive, breathing, emotional creatures, whom have no voice – making crimes against them simply and utterly terrible!!! Pisses me off.
If I had found this out, I would not have ‘just left’ the vet’s office. I probably would have TRIED to kick the doc’s ass. And, as far as the owners not knowing their dog was alive, some people cannot – under any circumstances – hold their animals paw til the very end. I did it once, and was devastated. I am not sure I could ever do it again 🙁

Oh my god, I can’t even deal with this story.

What a horrible and heart breaking story. I agree that I hope severe punishment awaits that vet.

Horrible story. I stayed with my dog the whole time. I stroked her and told her I loved her and what a good dog she was. I’m crying just thinking about it 🙁

I can’t even imagine. The poor thing. I read the article and it says the vet had FIVE dogs he was doing this with. And the main dog in the article didn’t even have the condition the vet said he did. Lying scheming abusive bastard. I do hope the charges against him stick.

I always wonder about anyone who would choose to hurt an innocent, voiceless animal. Serial killer in the making! I can’t believe someone entrusted with the care and wellbeing of animals would do something so despicable. I’d like to do the same thing to him…and worse.
