- Wedding: September 2015
My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years, and his best friend is getting married next month. The bride and groom are having a “Couples Shower” tomorrow, and we are struggling to find the right gift.
As a wedding gift, we will be giving them their wedding cake and groom’s cake, they know this already. I am a wedding cake baker, so the labor will be free, but the cost of the two cakes will be a few hundred dollars, not to mention the time I will spend making the cake.
Being that we will be spending a lot on the actual wedding and the wedding gift, we were not looking to spend much for the shower. This couple has been together 2.5 years, and they already have a son. So they don’t need any home items, and didn’t register for them. They instead made a honeymoon registry, filled with items that are mostly out of our budget. The items that are inside our budget are very impersonal. Also, we don’t really want to give to the honeymoon registry, because to us it really seems that this is more of their “vacation” than honeymoon, because they live together and have a child already. We’re traditionalists is all. I know my opinion on the honeymoon may be controversial, but I am just stating and not looking for a discussion about honeymoon registries.
Our idea right now is to gift them a homemade dinner, being that we are both professional chefs. We thought we could offer them dinner the night before they leave for the honeymoon or something. Though, they are very casual and I’m not sure that they would appreciate a “personal chef” type of thing.
I just really don’t know what to do from here! Any advice is greatly appreciated.
