So often I see posts on these boards from brides who feel a relative has "stolen their thunder" by planning a wedding close to their own. Well, my brother popped the question to his girlfriend on Monday, and I could not be happier! I just want to ramble happily about it.
They are perfect for each other and have an adorable story. They met while my brother (who lived in PA at the time) was visiting our other bro in San Francisco. He changed his flight to stay a day longer and hang out with her (a big deal because he was broke). They texted and called and visited each other for eight months, until he decided to move across the country to be with her. He left all of his friends and a job he loved, and didn't look back. That was 16 months ago, and things are going absolutely wonderfully for them.
He dated his previous GF for several years, and I honestly could never picture them getting married. I thought he just wasn't the marriage type. But as soon as he introduced me to this girl, I knew he would marry her. His is happier than I've ever seen him.
I just saw them last Friday and told them that FI and I were officially looking at wedding venues. I asked when he was planning on proposing, and he said, "Pretty soon." We chose our venue and set our date on Monday, and he texted me Tuesday morning to tell me he had done it.
I'm almost more excited for their wedding than for my own!
