that center-piece may be simple but its surely a winner. I love the different sized candles and I can't wait to see it with the mirror too. You did a wonderful job, these came out great!!!
I love it! And honestly, I love love love the platter. I'm not so huge on the mirror thing. You can pick up silver platters from second hand shops for usually around $5 each.
@bakerella: I definitely brought that up, I LOVE the platter as well, but I'm worried about being able to find enough of them before the wedding (we're doing this long distance). And for some reason FI thinks everything needs to be matchy matchy. But we aren't ordering everything yet so I may fight for it :)
@Koala Bear: thanks! I love the look of tons and tons of candles, and keeping it simple keeps me sane haha
And depending on if you like a little sparkle or 'bling' you could scatter some crystals or clear rocks around the bottom, both on and off the mirror. It might give it a little oomph. Great job. We are doing non-floral centerpieces too.
@Purple Nurse: I never thought I was a crystal girl, if anything I was going to sprinkle some petals. Hoping to keep it as natural as possible. I agree it would look good though!
I also like the platter better than the mirrors and the petal idea is a good one as well. It looks simple and elegant =)
This is one of the best DIY centerpieces I've seen on WB because it's uber-simple and really classy without being cluttered and overwhelming. I say keep it as is.
And I think you could find platters like those at all kinds of home stores, especially now that it's holiday time.
Beautiful! Just make sure that the venue in your area allows open flame (most do not anymore as a result of the Rhode Island nightclub fire a number of years ago). Also, if you do not use candle holders, be aware that the shorter candles will make the taller ones start to melt in the middle from the nearby heat.
@YSQueen: As it looks right now, with the mirror it costs $25. If we have to add glass that will push us higher. I really thought I asked our venue about it and they said as long as it was on a platter it was okay, but since Ember78: brought it up again I'm going to call again and make sure.
These look great! I really like all of the different sizes and shapes--it adds so much depth. And using a platter was a great decorative idea.
I like the candles on the platter (not a fan of mirrors)!! Simple, classy and pretty!
I like the platter look as well! I love things being a little mismatched, and I think it would look great if they weren't all the same, but it owuld look equally great even if they were!
The petals will add a nice soft touch to it!

I agree! I LOVE the platter with it because I'm not a huge fan of mirrors. However mirrors or platter it'll still look wonderful!

Today was an awesome day for wedding stuff! I've been waiting to go decor shopping forever, and now I can finally relax and know our centerpieces will look great. The platter was just to test, we are buying a hexagonal mirror for underneath. Open to suggestions if you think somethings off :)
