So sorry your car got broken into! I would still cancel the cards because someone could have copied them. 3 of my cards were taken out of my wallet and copied and then put back in. I didn't even know that it happened until charges showed up on my accounts.
Thanks MissAsB, I did go ahead and cancel all of them but holy crap I didnt think of any of that. I am super glad u mentioned it because I was a little bummed I canceled all my cards only to get them back an hour or so later.
Ah no! That sucks! Thank goodness they didn't take more though. I'm guessing you won't be leaving your wallet in your car anymore! I feel bad for that cop, those uniforms are so hot. It's good people and a labour of love who do that job!

I'm so sorry that happened!!! And how nice of you to send the cop a cookie basket!! I had my car broken into about a year ago and it was so horrible :( I didn't have anything of real value in my car except for some cd's. The worst thing though is the cd's were like Disney Princess, Hannah Montana, Taylor Swift, and a bunch of kiddy tunes! I was so upset to think someone went through all my things.
@shannon1126: Oh my gosh how cute are you?! I'm sure he'll love it. I dated a cop for three years and let me tell you, they don't get a lot of thanks (unfortunately!). FI is a contractor and he gets gift cards and bottles of wine all the time from people he helps, but when I dated my ex I can't think of a time he even told me about someone who gave him a sincere thank you. That's a sad state of affairs right there!
Oh, that really stinks! I'm so glad you were able to get the contects of your wallet back. You are so sweet to send the cop a thanks, and I'm sure it will be appreciated.
@shannon - That was awesome of the cop. I hope they catch that guy! Idk if they'll accept your cookie basket. Hopefully they will. My dog escaped & the cop brought her home. I mailed them a thank you card & a gift card. They mailed back the gift card & said they couldn't accept it, maybe its an Oregon thing? but they kept the thank you card at least!
Also, its best not to have anything of value visible in your car. Don't leave your wallet in your car. If you have anything of value (even a cd case) hide it under the seat or in your glove box or something. That sucks thou, I'm sorry :(.
Did you double check with insurance? I know not everyone's covers this, but I have a zero dollar deductible for broken glass. Double check....that sucks that you have to dip into the wedding fund!!!

So what surprises did this hot muggy Tuesday morning bring me? A busted out window and a missing wallet =( ugh!! WTH?!?! I dont live in a big city or a bad neighborhood. I live in po dunk Oklahoma. Good news is they only took my wallet bc they busted out the window and reached inside. Thank God they didn't go through my car bc they could have got off with a lot more valuable stuff. Luckily I dnt carry cash and I called the bank and credit card company first thing. Then as the cop is leaving after 'processing this crime scene' a man rides up on his bike and says he found my wallet and all its contents scattered across his yard like a deck of cards. Thank the Lord for that man! The only thing that was in my wallet that was not replaceable was a tiny little bag containing my daughters first tooth she lost bc she lost it at a restaurant not to long ago. I got all my stuff back except about 3 bucks but I had already canceled all my cards so I guess things could have been a lot worse. But sadly now I have to steal 200 from the wedding fund to pay for a new window =(
hahaha and the poor cop having to process it all in the driveway at 8 am when it was already 85 degrees
