After BarbieStylez posted some gorgeous pictures of her dress, from Cara Bridal–I decided to email her, to get a quote, and see if she could draw something up for me. So far, I have to say that my overall experience has been fantastic. Although, there are time’s that emailing is slow, or spotty–it seems that Olive is very professional, and I feel confident in her–once I decide to put my dress into production.
Here is my experience so far:
Jan 7: I wrote Olive, referencing the link to the dress that BarbieStylez, purchased—but asking if she could make significant changes/modifications to the design. I also asked if she does wedding veils.
Jan 8: Olive wrote me back with a detailed message thanking me for contacting her, and let me know that she does do custom orders, but would need to know the specifics as to what I want. She also does veils. She was very friendly, and personable.
Jan 8: I wrote Olive back, with detailed pictures and descriptions of what I want in my dress.
Jan 9: Olive wrote me back asking when I need the dress by? She said she would draw something up and send it to me later on.
Jan 10: I recieved the sketch! It’s gorgeous, except that I want the dress to be more of a droped waist, than a fit and flair. I asked for a TON of modifications–including a cathedreal train, more pearls, no sequence etc etc etc..
Here’s the dress—aside from the skirt still not being high enough, Olive nailed it! 🙂
Jan 10: I asked for the price, and was quoted $700–due to the extra embellishments, and added fabric. I asked for fabric samples, to choose a color.
Jan 10: I recieved fabric samples for the satin:
Feb 5: I asked to see up-close color samples of No. 63, and No. 89.
Feb 8: Olive sent over these pictures:
Feb 14–Today: I wrote Olive and told her that I’m having trouble choosing between them–I want a shade of ivory or off white that will contrast against the lace, without being as dark as champaign, no. 65 on the swatches. (Which is the color of Barbiestylez dress.) I asked if she could give me her professional opinion on this.
So this is where I am so far. What do you think Bee’s? Does anyone see a color in the color chart that looks like an off white/ivory, that looks pretty? I’d love some opinions. I hope my experience, so far can help–and I’ll keep everyone posted. 🙂
