Was in it a proteactive bag?

Can we get a picture? Perhaps a seamstress can do something with fabric!

It can't be taken to a seamstress and fixed??

This makes me feel even better that I decided to keep my dress at my great-aunt's where there's NO animals. Even though my cats are declawed, things have still been destroyed.

That's horrible! I am so sorry about that. I think for $200 you should be able to find a local seamstress who can salvage it. That dress has layers of organza and I think they should be able to just replace the destroyed layers without to much trouble. I wish you luck!

I agree with Mrs.Argentina: take it to a seamstress, they can make miracles.

I'm sorry about your dress :(.

Can you post a pic of it?

I would try taking it to a seamstress & see what they can do. In your eyes it may be ruined, but who knows, maybe a seamstress knows just the trick to make it look just as good as new again.

You should get a protector bag, I got a heavy duty one from walmart for like $20. Keep it in there from now on, or lock up your closet so your cat can't get to your clothes :(.

If you punish your cat now, she'll have no idea why. Just close doors so she can't go into certain rooms/areas.

    1.  I hate your cat.

    2. Run (not walk) to the nearest seamstress.  Maybe some extra fabric maybe able to to be used to salvage it?

    I looked up your dress:

My CAT destroyed my wedding dress!! : wedding wedding dress plus size 1 emotional vent cat cheap alfred angelo size 18 size 20 help 2123AAdress

To me, it looks like a seamstress could just replace the lacey layers. I have no idea, but it looks like an easier fix than a different type of dress at least. Maybe a bee who knows about this stuff could give a better suggestion? I'd start calling around local seamstresses though & maybe you can leave your dress at the seamstress' office until your wedding? If you have a local craft/fabric store, maybe take a peice of the dress to the store & see if you can get that fabric locally & you could also ask them if they have any seamstresses they can recommend.

    This is my biggest fear!!!!!

I agree wiht all the PPs - I think ts incredible what can be done to repair damage - with two months to spare a seamstress can probably do wonders for you!

    GOOD LUCK!

Never did like cats. they freak me out with their eyes that look like they could kill you.

Not funny i know but you made me think of that Fokker movie.

Hopefully a seamstress can fix it. I am so sorry!

I have an Alfred Angelo dress that i was going to sell but I would give it to you if you wanted but It looks nothing like your dress. It's style # 1114 size 16.

Ugh, I was so hoping the title was a joke! I'm so sorry...that has got to be an awful feeling. This was my biggest fear when mine was at home for the 2 days prior to our wedding. I've got three cats and the people staying in that room would not keep the door shut.

I agree with all the other bees...take your dress to a seamstress. I bet with the way the dress is constructed it would be a relatively simple fix.

@luvmyDwight:  All I could think about was "Meet the Parents" when my dress was at home. ;) And how horrifying that would be.

@mrscheetos: With all due respect, I don't think that's what the OP wants to read at her time of crisis right now. We all have our 'Why the hell did I do that?' moments in life. :/

But yes I agree on above pp's and get a seamstress opinion before buying a dress (new or used). This really isn't fair. I have a cat, not declawed, and to my dismay, he clawed the heck out of my sectional...double stick tape and all. Cats are lucky they're cute sometimes....

Yes, take it to a seamstress to troubleshoot!

And if the outlook is grim, check out Church Street Bridal: http://churchstreetbridal.blogspot.com/ and http://classifieds.weddingbee.com/topic/the-sample-gown-gold-mine-take-2 (this is a continuation of many, many other Church St. threads, one of which was moved over to the Classifieds section: http://classifieds.weddingbee.com/topic/the-sample-gown-gold-mine). Many of the dresses they list are $500 or less, and if you post in the thread, people will be able to help you out. They have a super discounted section where I think you can find dresses for $200 or less.

    Good luck! What a nightmare!

I say sell the cat to the highest bidder. I'm sure a seamstress can put a little detail on it to hide it. You'd be surprised was a good seamstress with imagination can do. Depending on how bad it is people will never even know it was messed up.

    Please post a pic.

    :(

Reason #976 why I will never own a cat.

With there being so many layers on there, I would think a good seamstress could fix it. If you can't get more of the exact fabric, you could probably shorten the train and use that fabric on the front (or wherever it was shredded).

Let us know what you do.

I'm confused at how so many PP's are threatening to brutally murder an animal and that isn't breaking some sort of rule...

Anyways, this is not your cat's fault. This is your fault. Leaving your extremely expensive gown where an animal could reach it is just a poor decision. I would check with a seamstress or head over to a Macy's or Nordstroms rack and see if you can replace it with a nice white gown for cheaper.

i'm so sorry.  i have two dresses in my closet but neither one would work for you.  i just wanted to wish you luck and hope you either get your dress fixed or find something that will work.

i hope you are not blaming your cats.  both my cats are pretty well behaved.  although they did steal the fortune cookie from the dining table last night.  i leave my closet door open all the time and up until a few days ago, had three wedding dresses in garment bags in there.  neither cats bothered the dresses.  when i had veils hanging in the closet to fluff ot the wrinkes, i was really worried about my cats destroying the veils so i kept my closet door closed.  one day i didn't completely shut it.  one of my cats is good at opening doors.  when i came home, the veils were fine.  they are more interested in my pearl bouquet project than the are in my veils or wedding dresses.

I'm reading the thread...I see one post that say, "I would kill that cat." No other mentions of murdering the cat, certainly not crutally. And I would assume that one person isn't serious, I say I'm going to kill my dog whenever he pees in the house, I'm never serious.

OP, I agree with PPs who said take it to a seamstress.

i'm amazed at how many people are blaming the cat. good grief its an animal. If it wasnt left where the cat could get it this wouldnt have happened. OP you should call around and find out if its worth it to fix the dress of if they want to charge alot it might be better to buy a new one

@julies1949: Well that is the best part about the bee. I am free to share my opinion on a subject as long as it is done in an appropriate manner. I feel that she should have thought of her animal before she left her dress in such an area that the animal had access to it and I am offended that so many people are threatening the animal when it is just that, an animal.

If this were any other thread about a pet and people made comments similar to these there would be plenty of people up in arms. It is about being personally responsible for your actions not blaming someone/something for them. She posted this in a public forum so I responded with what I thought about the situation.

@miss sparkly cat: I think (hope?!) most of those people are kidding.

My first thought, for example, was EUTHANASIA!

But...I'd never kill an animal in real life. Even if it clawed up my wedding dress/sofa/sleep number bed, I'd still do nothing more than give it away to the neighbors at the very worst.

And come on, we all know OP was thinking it. It's way healthier to get those sorts of feelings out in a safe, supportive forum than to let them fester. ;D

@MsBrooklynA: I'm just surprised at the attitude coming from someone who recently posted  a thread about the trouble she has managing money.

Members gave you lots of helpful ideas about managing money. They didn't lecture you about how you waste money and should know better.

Why are we blaming a cat and saying to give it away? It's not as if it thought, "Well, that's a really expensive and important dress, so I might as well sharpen my claws on it." It's a cat. If it was accidentally left out and it got rained on, would we tell OP to give up on water?

I think we all need to be a little supportive regardless of how it happen it happen and im sure the last thing she needs to here is “it’s your fault” im sure she knows that already and is beating herself up enough. Put yourself in her shoes 2 months before your wedding and you have no dress. Come on ladies we can do better than this.

Im praying for you DeansQueen and I hope it all works out.

if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all.
